how to report unsportsmanlike behaviour in a tournament?

Hello,

I am currently playing a tournament game of backgammon against somebody. The match goes until 15 points and the current score is 4:2.
The game that is currently running has me holding a 6-prime in my endzone, 2 stones of my opponent have been beaten, he has only 2 spots occupied in his endzone, so horrible situation for him and a way over 90% gammon for me with minimal chances for a backgammon.
That player now has "offered" to concede a single point for the 2nd time in a row, which I think is a really unsportsmanlike behaviour, which I also let him know, because as a fair player you dont do this in backgammon, thats a fact.
As I dont want to be bothered by even more of those hilarious offers, I would like to know how that behaviour can be reported, as it does not get covered by the few given options.

I can provide a screenshot to an admin if necessary, table number etc.

BGA doesn't have the expertise to police this kind of thing. Don't waste their time.

The only way this would be reportable is if it were done in a real-time game and the offer somehow interfered with your interface in a way that affected your turn and caused you to run out of time. Or something akin to that. In that case it may be considered exploiting a known bug.

There are no tournament directors on BGA to enforce sportsmanship. Even the person who organizes a tournament has no power to discipline anyone who enters it.

Other than annoying you and offending your sensibilities about proper behavior, how is this actually harming you?

There are quite many ways how this behaviour is disturbing:

1) as mentioned it is very unsportsmanlike
2) the other player gets my timer running every single time
3) every time i receive a pop-up where I have to deny that offer... if that gets done again and again, it might happen to accidentially hit the wrong button, as there is no "are you sure you want to accept that offer"-button

As already noted this is not BGA's problem so don't waste their time with it. There is nothing to report.

The opponent is doing something the system allows them to do. You have only two options:

* Apply a private red thumb to reduce your chances of playing that opponent
* Create a suggestion specific to Backgammon (as this is a feature of the implementation of the game) that would address elements of this you think are problematic.

What practical experience suggests you should not do are:

* Engage the person with the chat feature, as your post here suggests you risk becoming aggressive and getting yourself moderated
* Name the person or attempt to call them out in the forums, as that will also get you moderated.

I know how to play backgammon, as in I understand the rules, though I've never played it enough to develop much strategy. In spite of that, I didn't understand most of what the OP said, and had no idea any kind of unspoken, "sportsmanlike" rules existed, and if I happened to stumble into a tournament for fun, I'd have no concept that I should be playing that way (kind of the reason I also no longer play Hanabi on here). There's nothing on the tournament indicating anyone should be following said unspoken rules, and even if there were, such things aren't enforceable. Are there not other places out there on the web for more serious backgammon play (like chess)?

As has been mentioned, if you think the backgammon framework needs adjustment, you're free to suggest and then it's up to the developers of the game whether your suggestion is implemented (assuming backgammon has active development, which isn't the case for all games on BGA). Your other option is to form some kind of exclusive group for those who understand your unspoken rules and have the group create tournaments open only to those people. However, identifying those people might be kind of hard, and doing so may severely limit your opponent pool.

As an aside too, while a red thumb will reduce your chances of meeting that opponent outside of tournament play, you can't prevent meeting them in tournament play unless you play in private tournaments (restricted to a group as I said).

This is stretching it a bit. There are situations in many games where accidentally hitting the wrong button puts you at a disadvantage. You learn to click carefully. And even where you don't, well sometimes that happens - it's disappointing, but it is just a game.
