Re: self-layered patch finesse?

imo the r3 clue u described has a very huge risk - what if cathy decides not to play r1 (just marks her 1 as r1 and her finesse slot as r2), but tries to bluff donald's y1 with a clue of her own? the team will become severely desychronized from each other, and it is very difficult to recover from su...

Re: self-layered patch finesse?

i think the correct term for this is a Pestilent Finesse . usually this kind of clue is given from Bluff Seat (by mg6 in this case), and there it would only make r1 & r2 play but nothing more after that. juicy knows their 2 is NOT r2, and they can have any random card in slot2. the fact that the...

Re: If you clue a double bluff, must it include a promise?

thats incorrect imo. if it can be a bluff, it is a bluff. bob responded to alice's clue by blind-playing a card. 1. bob did not play a 3 (nor k5) - he played a 2, which does not (directly) connect to our 4. so alice's clue was a bluff not a finesse. (this idea is explained a lot better under the Cat...

Re: If you clue a double bluff, must it include a promise?

why do u say invalid? imo the bluff with g4 (in ur pic) is completely valid, and moreover cathy immediately knows her 4 to be exactly green (or k4, if the team plays with black).

Re: If you clue a double bluff, must it include a promise?

@Blacktango thats not really true though. u can still do a long finesse as long as ANYONE ELSE other than the player in Bluff Seat gives the clue. sometimes a color clue is impossible for a bluff, due to a trash m1 in someone's hand. in such cases, it is very useful to allow for bluffs with rank 3/4...

Re: If you clue a double bluff, must it include a promise?

true, it is possible that donald has r2/r3 on finesse position and his 4 is really r4. but this assumption goes against Occam's Razor , especially given that there is a much simpler explanation that he just has k4. since k4 is one-from-playable, it is a valid bluff target. and since r1 does not conn...

imo yes - the yellow clue is a bit misleading.
on the other hand, if someone clued a r4 (say in matric's hand) before toto clued y2, then u should play r2 first before trying to play y1 (u dont know which order ur y1/r3 are).

Re: If you clue a double bluff, must it include a promise?

Because if Bob plays 1r and Cathy doesn't play, David will bomb looking for 2r and 3r. If Cathy doesn't play and David thinks it's 4k and doesn't play, Bob might bomb next round looking for 2r and 3r (even if the 4 wasn't red, because why else would no one play?) this is wrong. if donald has k4, bo...

Re: If you clue a double bluff, must it include a promise?

Alice clues David’s red 4 with the rank clue 4. Then Bob plays the red 1 from the finesse position. Cathy plays the yellow 1 from the finesse position. David would assume his 4 might be black. why would he assume that? if it was k4, then cathy would not have blind-played anything because k4 is a va...
