I do think it should be a case of having the players anonymised cards presented, and you pick one. That said, plenty of times I've had them steal a shark, a boat, etc

that the cube lock only persists till you can change the position by moving your own checkers. The cube lock as it is implemented at the moment works perfectly in the situation that you are on the bar and cannot move your checkers.
