Re: Players out of time - code of conduct

Well, I felt like your post was saying, BGA don't enforce ending the game when the timer runs out, but some players can choose to if they want. Yes, BGA doesn't enforce and doesn't care. That's why we'll have endless discussions about this here on forums. It's all about what players think. In some ...

Re: Players out of time - code of conduct

Fair enough. I didn't really go looking, was just going off of this post that said it wasn't anywhere in the "rules": Again, there is a rule "don't run out time", there are no rule "you should kick those how run out of time". Like, maybe a player ran out of time while ...

Re: Players out of time - code of conduct

There is a karma penalty to being kicked from a game. Strange to have a karma penalty for behaviour they think is acceptable. As others have said, the fact that being kicked from a game is punitive, the fact that you get a screen that pops up to tell you "Ooops! You did something you shouldn't...

Re: Is this player good or are they AI/bot?

Every single turn I finished, they started their turn immediately. Looking at their history, they have only played Ark Nova arena. And I'm not their only victim. They have a 91% win rate. They joined 5 days ago, and don't just win. They obliterate people. In 10 of their 20 games, their opponent has...

Re: Players out of time - code of conduct

This is why BGA needs a setting at table creation to "automatically remove players who are out of time". It shouldn't be up to the users to enforce the rules, and it's absurd to blame those who are following the rules everyone agreed to at table creation for not wanting to continue playin...

Re: Bots at BGA

I'd certainly suspect trolling first. I would have thought that taking more than a few seconds to make a move would be superfluous, given how fast machines operate, but I guess it depends on several factors. No matter how fast machine operates you can't solve chess and many other games. If a goal o...

Re: Stockfish on BGA

As a reminder using external scripts, AI, or automated programs to play on your behalf in competitive games is considered cheating. I am editing this thread. Good call, considering it doesn't play on your behalf and works in friendly games only. And chess isn't even competitive on BGA. If you have ...

Re: I went to hospital suddenly for a week -- now my rep is in the gutter

There is a player that every couple of months will join hundreds of games, including tournaments, and then stop playing all together in the middle of them for a month or two. Then they'll just play quick games and get their rep back up to do it again. As I said in the other thread, BGA management p...

Well, we also don't exactly choose opponents in obscure games with tiny player base. But penalty is the same everywhere.

Re: the *decreasing ELO gain if you win against the same players rule*

It is completely relevant. This change was implemented as an anti-cheating mechanism! Yeah, that's exactly the problem. An anti-cheating mechanism that is hard-wired into a player rating system. No detection, just straight prevention affecting everyone. But hey, also no false positives and false ne...
