Re: Let's talk about Elysium

Easily the most poorly designed map. Three card spot is swingy and in too good a location. Awards center too much around board play, which synergizes too strongly with center control. You're right that it doesn't favor rush, but it also does not favor traditional engine. Instead, it massively favors...

Adding VP is a good mechanic to make powerful effect cards more expensive to play early.

Re: Convoy From Europa

There are other convoluted sequences too. It's not just Point Luna with Nuclear zone. Thsarsis + spin-off + an expensive city card. Maybe Tharsis player miscalculates and expects to get 6 MC worth of rebates, but, oops, was off by 1 MC, and now has drawn a card from spinoff but only has 5 MC instea...

Re: Convoy From Europa

Place a tile on the Hellas southpole with too little cash on hand, placing the ocean on the card (and draw it) rather than some place else so you get enough money back to pay the 6 MC cost, and you've got yourself a deadlock. Placing the ocean somewhere where you gain insufficient rebates to pay fo...

Re: Errata Earth Catapult

@Frank: No, I'm doing 40*2 - 26 to account for the cost of playing earth cat. Ah, I see. I misunderstood, my apologies. So, perhaps a bit less than 54, assuming a few 0-cost or 1-cost cards might get played. Yes, a bit less than 54 because of <2 MC cost cards and some cards being discounted below 0...

Re: How much luck is involved in TM?

well, in my opinion, if you take any 500 ELO+ player, this game will be based on luck like 80% :))) I am happy to play 100 games with someone to see the result. I assume it will be around 50/50 Well, jugdgin by corvus' stats or even mine that's not quite true https://i.ibb.co/G35YMVKK/dds.png That ...

Re: How much luck is involved in TM?

well, maybe then I am wrong. are you happy to play 100 games against me? (can be friendly so does not affect your ELO :)) Yes, I am happy to play any number of games as long as you’re willing to play turn-based. Send me an invite. The last time someone said this on this forum, we played 12 games an...

Re: How much luck is involved in TM?

Well, I would bet that I'd win under 40. Anyway there is a noticable gap between corvus and me, then there is a gap between me and let's say you, and then there is a gap between you and some 500 elo guy. There is enough skill expression in the game to make a difference over a prolonged set of games...

Re: new arena season

I wish we could convince Fryx to implement the most important Colonies rebalance: disallowing double-trade on a single turn. Have you and other top players tried (convincing them)? Currently, Colonies seems unpopular for serious play, and I doubt that is what the Fryx family wanted or intended for ...

Re: new arena season

I am happy to play whatever format prevails. Personally I find Tharsis pretty boring, since it’s the most “solved” map. In general I would rather see change than the same thing repeatedly — for example, I would prefer doing a no-Prelude-Corp season, now that this feature exists. That is a more compe...
