New to the game.

My impression is that players get to a point in late game where they start predicting the outcome of the game based on the last moves... but prior to that it's (kind of) random build-up.

Responding to the previous commenter, it's true that even current scoring is a facilitation compared to physical play, but I think that some form of reckoning is necessary for gameplay, to make the competition clearer. Good for Splendor Duel as it is a nice strategic game, but it's unfortunate that Altered didn't make it.
