You cannot increase the number of available factories, but if you play a "balanced" game they will cost 8 which would make them go a litlte slower. If you do not like depleted colonists ending your game so soon, you can play with the 2nd expansion turned on where depleted colonists does no...

Personally, I enjoy playing with the first expansion only (without the 2nd) much more. Would I enjoy the 2nd expansion more if i got used to it? It would be interested if, rather than drafting buildings or random buildings, there were a few more variants, each with a fixed set of the new buildings. ...
