Re: Early version of an AI you can practice TFM against

Half of these „mistakes” sound possibly correct. I played a game vs tfmbot today and it performed much better than before! It played surprisingly well at the start. However gen9/gen10 were played just horribly (turning a somewhat equal game into 20vp difference).

Re: Early version of an AI you can practice TFM against

I doubt corps’ ranking would make tfmbot play better. Looks like a short-sighted fix. What changes the odds massively in favour of CSM in said game is AGT/InventionContest and a pair of great steel cards (Carbonate/GhgFactories) that double with the heat preludes.

Cool bot! I think it would perform better with „Don’t SP Cities” hardcoded. There are some other frequent mistakes such as not taking greenery conversion lines.

Re: I wish this game had a mulligan system

Absolutely agreed with dizi. It’s terrible for 2p competitive play. Looks bad for other formats too.

Re: The Big 5 Mistakes

The general rule would be to draft better cards regardless of AI in hand. You only need three tags — something will come along. The cost of drafting considerably worse cards is usually not worth getting AI online a gen or two earlier (it really depends on the scenario though). I figured you’re refer...

Re: The Big 5 Mistakes

The title isn’t really accurate, but I think dividing some advice into 5 concise points is a good idea. That short list of mine featured overrated cards — „barely playable” was probably a bit of a stretch and maybe not the right fit — there’s a ton of worse cards. Nevertheless: DeepWell costs too mu...

Re: I wish this game had a mulligan system

Dealing 3 corps and 6 preludes would cause the opposite of the intended effect. A bigger sample reduces variance — the very thing that makes this game skillful. Personally I find dizi’s proposal way better. The game is fine the way it is anyway — chasing ideal balance in a card game is doomed.

Re: The Big 5 Mistakes

I like the idea. I got some too. 1. AsteroidMiningConsortium is mediocre. SelfSufficientSettlement is awful — second worst prelude just after SocietySupport. 2. Overrated (in fact barely playable) project cards: SpaceStation/ImmigrationShuttles/ImmigrationCity/RadChemFactory/DeepWellHeating. The lis...

Re: I wish this game had a mulligan system

I think this issue concerns preludes the most. The prelude mulligan seems to be the only one that can be implemented in an acceptable way too. Cards/corps mulligan surely generates more issues than it solves.

Re: Let's talk about Elysium

Atrocious for 4p. Decent and enjoyable for 2p despite its obvious flaws. The map looks like it wasn’t designed with the prelude expansion in mind.

I like this remark a lot. Wholeheartedly agree.
