Re: Multiplayer elimination tournaments

Thanks for the info. Makes sense to me then - I joined a couple tournament games and in both cases I got eliminated for doing nothing. Also just wondering if it's a setting issue or if I missed it. When I play a real-time game there is always a screen asking all players to confirm. When it com...

Multiplayer elimination tournaments

Recently I just tried out some tournaments in BGA. In one of the tournaments one player got unresponsive from the start of the game and the rest of the players could do nothing. The tournament setting also disallowed kicking out-of-time players. I waited it out for a month, did absolutely nothing (e...

Re: Need Better Game Option

I agree there should be an option to collectively decide to terminate the game when only 2 or 3 players remain in the "limited number of hands" setting. I just had a game with a number of players going all in the first few hands. By the 5th hand only 3 players remained with chip distributi...

Re: Ridiculous

Yes, but isn't this just the same as the difference between cash games and sit 'n' go. In SNG played for money, one chip does not equal one money, and there is a difference between money EV and chip EV. On BGA, the games are SNG, but the payout is of course in Elo rather than money, so the same eff...

Re: Ridiculous

My brain exploded  but I found it easier to understand like this. 1) If your win probability is 0.8 and your K-factor is 20 then you get +0.2 * 20 = +4 points for a win and -0.8 * 20 = -16 points for a loss. A draw lies right in the middle with -0.3 * 20 = -6 points. 2) If your win probability ...

Re: Ridiculous

Still kinda confused about the X+10, X+20 thingy and I've absolutely no idea whether or not the ELO works like this but I kinda get your logic (I guess?) In game 1, a win gives +15, a solo 2nd place gives +5, a shared 2nd=3rd=4th gives -5 In game 2, a win gives +22.5, a solo 2nd place gives +1...

Re: Ridiculous

Thanks euklid for clarifying haha. Took me some time to understand that X, X-22, X-8 thingy. I was half asleep and made a calculation mistake. Not sure if it's exactly how ELO number works (hell lot of assumptions we've made  ) The 100-ELO floor still screws things up for a bit but I gues...

Re: Ridiculous

The ELO distribution affects your range / "breakeven threshold" which you can accept an all-in. It may not affect KK this particular hand but it deffo moves the threshold. It is not different from real-life tournaments, where we also cannot simply ignore the payout structure. The pay jump ...

Re: Players folding on free checks

Folding to a free check gives away lots of information and is highly exploitable. If you fold your trash hands, your checking range would be stronger than usual, at least with some showdown value. When you hit strong hands at later streets, your opponents will be more cautious and you are far less l...

Re: Ridiculous

BTW my above bulls**t is not a made-up concept or anything :D . In real-life tournaments there are also a lot of extreme spots like this (spots that you even need to fold AA preflop), but these spots tend to be only prominent in certain phases called "bubbles". Here in BGA we have a more e...
