Re: Est ce vraiment du hasard ?

Admittedly, i struggle with this feeling as well. Seems illogical that i could be dealt a 4, so i have a 3/91 (give or take a couple depending on who is first) chance of busting and i do, and people play silly and hit with 8/10/11/12 and get rewarded with a x2 or a 5. But it’s usually “recency bias”...

Re: We had a big argument over this.

- is there a way to see the game chat? I can see replay of game but not chat. Curious because… - I’d like to know what Diart, who is a solid player, thought. Did they see that and think they had g4? - what was skill level of player in the g5 seat? I think the only reason this clue is valid is bc the...

Re: Tough starting position

If you were first player, you could clue 5 under the likelihood they will clue you. Usually they’ll save 2s or mark 1s; then you can clue red to mark m1 (if it’s avalanche) and get a play and mark both fives as red If they were first they’ll prob bomb 5, maybe not as they may have saved 2 and now wi...

Re: Hanabi 10000+ games masters have some common problems

I had several successful 2-p games with him, and then one game I colored some color and captured the 1 and 2, he played the one. He had two unplayable 2s in hand so next clue I marked 2s revealing the colored 2 and he played left, bomb, then chewed me out and red thumbed me. He said “in finesse conv...

Re: Neg hint really that important?

On a side note, with your lack of experience you might want to not play the hardest setting . Play just black powder, or just avalanche, then six color with black, then avalanche with black I see a lot of games of 0 in your Hanabi which might just mean you’re in over your head , which is noble; but ...

Re: Neg hint really that important?

Lots of questionable decisions for such a short game: First, your opening clue was fine. Why the person you clued 1 to didn’t clue yellow is beyond me: they capture a play, and capture m2 (valuable) with no risk of them gentleman discarding wrong card if their one is also yellow (ie, it isn’t m1 and...

Re: Empty clues have no logic

Another notion is the play BEFORE 8 token situation . Discard mgmt seems to be a notion lost on BGA. Ie, if the ones are down but 2s are slow to turn up, why are we dumping 3s and 4s when we can clue 1s to discard? I’ve clued across (skip) trash ones (known trash) and people bomb bc it’s a trash blu...

Re: Empty clues have no logic

Should this logic be extended to players who are locked (5 marked cards and can’t play)? Should every clue they give be ignored too? Bc oftentimes these players have to give empty clues since they can’t play or discard .

Re: Empty clues have no logic

Bus makes a great point; we literally can not give a finesse or bluff clue with first turn of the game with this convention . So the convention and logic becomes “midgame” with 8 tokens we ignore the clue ? I could get on board with 8 tokens and a number on chop is ignored; even if not critical, ie,...

Does skip mean play?

Just played a 3-player game. Partner on my left had w2 (playable) on chop and another w2 in hand, so needed him to discard. Next player had a critical k2 on chop. So I “stole” his save to force him to discard. He responded by bombing off left and his reasoning was “why steal”? I argued there is no s...
