Drafting drags out the game, which is an important consideration in the turn-based mode. It's an extra bit of fiddly business that delays the project play, which is what I actually enjoy. Hate drafting is an anti-thematic or at least non-thematic element of negativity intended to nerf the synergies...

Might I suggest using gray markers to indicate funded awards. It occurs to me that using player cubes may be confusing for newbies who are not clear on the distinction between awards and milestones.
