I much prefer playing the "Expert" version: with tactics cards, and claim flag at the start of your turn. To me that feels a bit less luck-of-the-draw ... it's nice to be able to respond to someone's threat!

I am looking forward to playing this as it is the forerunner of Batteline, one of my all-time favourite Knizia games. Battleline is a rethemed version of Schotten Totten and, being a Scot myself, I prefer this theme rather than the ridiculous Celtic stereotypes of the original. But the Battle Line ...

Recruiter Error

As implemented, you draw 3 cards, then discard 2 … and then draw another card as usual. That last bit should not be happening, it’s all part of the Recruiter effect. Otherwise, you end up with an increased hand size.

I don’t suppose it would be possible to include a variant which uses Battle Line art instead of Schotten Totten?

More stats would be better. For example, percentage of times you kill infantry when rolling against infantry (same for tanks and artillery). Or how often you rolled retreats.
