From the pictures, it looks like a color-splashed reskin of an old Greek-themed game whose name I can't recall. You tried to control five of nine spaces in your phalanx's front, or get a breakthrough of three consecutive spaces. Is this a remake?

Probably, sounds identical to this gameplay.

You are describing Battle Line, but have the timing backward. It's the same designer and core mechanics, but Schotten Totten came first.

I am looking forward to playing this as it is the forerunner of Batteline, one of my all-time favourite Knizia games. Battleline is a rethemed version of Schotten Totten and, being a Scot myself, I prefer this theme rather than the ridiculous Celtic stereotypes of the original.

Maybe the best game of BGA.

Recruiter Error

As implemented, you draw 3 cards, then discard 2 … and then draw another card as usual. That last bit should not be happening, it’s all part of the Recruiter effect. Otherwise, you end up with an increased hand size.

But the Battle Line cards are SO much easier to interpret visually!

I only recently discovered this game and am addicted to playing it just before bed. Fortunately I can always find an opponent. I've only just realised that ST is new to BGA - I hope it's not just the novelty of it being new that means it's easy to find someone to play with. I love how quick yet strategic this game is. It's helped me learn it thoroughly so I can teach my partner in a real-life game.

Thanks !

Just posting again re: Recruiter error.

From the original Battle Line rulebook (where this card — there the Scout — appeared originally):
“At the end of his turn, the player draws one card from either deck to refresh his hand to seven.”

Unless Schotten Totten changed the rules, which I do not think is the case, hand size should remain the same. So the Recruiter play should end your turn WITHOUT drawing a new card.
