Re: Question about surrender

I do find it a bit disturbing when they concede in the last turn. like 30sec before game would be finished. It does depend on the game. In most games, you're expected to let the game play out, but in Tash-Kalar, you're supposed to concede if your opponent triggers the end of the game and you can't ...

Re: BGA logo: wt* is it?

I'm pretty sure it's a comics-style thought bubble, representing the fact that I spend most of my time thinking and I'm really slow to actually make my move.

(Is purple still the color of sarcasm on the Internet?)

Re: curious question about possible games

Card games can be quite compact. My favorite is Team Play. https://wizkids.com/team-play/ You have a deck of red and blue numbers, 1-8, and a deck of goals like "four of a kind" or "run of 3 cards, in blue". Each player is dealt a personal goal, and there is one goal in the middl...

Re: Reign of Terror

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the CGE Through the Ages app, not the BGA interface ... On my tablet, the event deck and the civil deck are in the left and right corners of the screen below the card row. If you tap on a deck, it takes you to an interface where you can look up any card in your cu...

Re: Red 'X'

The X above the cards shows you which cards will be removed from the row even if you don't take them.

In a 3-player game, the card row gets at least 2 new cards at the beginning of each player's turn.

Re: Reign of Terror

I'm still learning the interface here so I don't know how to see the event that's affecting you. But I can look up Terrorism in the app ... The weakest civilization has to lose 1 population. That means it affects only one player, because of the play-order tiebreaker. I hope it didn't burn down anyth...

Re: Progressive Score

Does anybody know if this gives an advantage? Can we speculate? Imagine a situation at the end of the game, when you're trying to decide whether to discover a new site. You have a way to get the compasses, but you don't know if you can get the resources to defeat the guardian. If the site gives you...

Re: Progressive Score

It's a design decision. In the tabletop version, you play the game, then count up your score at the end. In playtesting, this led to the sort of gameplay that the designers liked. It's possible, of course, to keep a running tabulation, but if the BGA implementation did this, then players would get t...
