Re: TOP ELO stuck for years

I don't think the players' ratings would have changed much if they were playing each other, and certainly not up to 1,000 elo. Getting a rating when playing with average players will not differ much from the rating when playing only with strong players, and in theory it should not differ at all. So...

Re: TOP ELO stuck for years

DBJ is the Goat, I’m sure you think you are the best player. You may be. Your stats are impressive. If you play Baptlens 60 games, and won 35 and lost 25, you would gain 100 ELO above your current score. If you did the same thing against Chadmild, you would be up nearly 200. If the top 10 all play e...

Re: TOP ELO stuck for years

DJB is da GOAT, I want it to be clear that I am not accusing you or anyone of doing something wrong. I just think the ELO math equation you play by, is unfair to us playing by a different ELO math equation. These are perhaps my top 10 competitors in 2025, and my total record against them: Opponent__...

Re: TOP ELO stuck for years

In 6 Nimmt, If a player plays 2-player games and has wins of 90% they can stay about 600 ELO above their average opponent. If a player plays 5-player games and has wins of 90% they can stay about 100 ELO above their average opponent. This is the percentage of ELO we get from our wins and losses agai...

Re: TOP ELO stuck for years

Alesk’s complaints are completely valid in every respect. The elo calculation favors 2p by such an extreme amount that it is simply impossible to compete if you play legit games with 5 or more players. It’s a shame too, because this game’s leaders would change weekly or even daily making it a lot of...

Re: Guru’s stop voting 3 player

When you compare how high elo gets between players who play 2p and players who play 3p, it's not a fair comparison. There is a significant elo penalty for playing 3p. If you are on a winning streak in 2p games, you receive 100% of the elo allocated each game by the bga formula. If you are on a winni...

Re: Max number of rounds triggering the end + What is a good game?

I'm wondering what are the maximum number of rounds with these game settings, typically speaking. In 5 player Card set variant: Disabled Professional variant: No Game Length: Starting score Starting score: 66 Interesting question. Just doing the quick math... If 20 cards were left on the table at t...

Re: Just curious - do you think it is possible to 'get good' at this game?

2 player grinders are at the top because its the least random but imo not as fun. While it's true that 2p games have less luck, they also have significantly less skill. It is simply a much less interesting game in all respects, at least that's my opinion. In 5p, you have to plan farther ahead each ...

Re: Hanabi Clues for Begining Players

e.g. Bob: X X 5y 4r 4r There are a number of ways to handle saving multiple cards. Some players use the convention; that if no 5 is playable in your example, they can clue "5" and it saves the 5 and every card to the right of the 5. Actually, they do this with any number card that isn't c...
