Re: Mind Sports Olympics Grand Prix Pente this Sunday

Another year, another Grand Prix. I recommend interested players play at least a few games at vint.ee, since there are a few differences. 15x15 boards, black plays first, no confirm move (undo) option. For details on the tournamemt time, prizes, etc. see - https://m.facebook.com/story.php/?id=100064...

Re: gomoku arena

@ megamau - agreed, but that's an argument against arena for checkers and othello, not for arena in gomoku.

Re: Do most people study the strategy tips for new games, or ignore and learn through playing?

I don't personally read tips for games, but I did spend a fair bit of time writing some for Pente - https://boardgamearena.com/doc/Tips_pente I've been playing it off and on for about 30 years (swap versions for about 20) and am currently the top rated player here. There are much better players than...

Re: gomoku arena

Commonplace AI is already better than the best human swap2 gomoku players in the world, so what would be the point? Top swap2 gomoku players have basically three options for tournaments - in person, 1/1 blitz tournaments and tournaments which have very detailed anti cheating measures enabled. BGA ca...

Adjustable timer for tournament play

I think it would be great to be able to set the minutes and per move increments for real time games for tournament purposes. Currently, I'm working on organizing a tournament between Pen...

Re: Pente tournament requests?

Hi multiplumb,
If a player doesn't meet the minimum rating to enter a tournament, I would just contact the tournament creator and ask them to invite that player to the tournament. If they do meet the requirements, then just send them a link to it.

Creating game puzzles using tutorial features?

I'd like to add some interactive Pente puzzles to the site (but other game players could add puzzles for different games too) and the tutorial creation feature might be one way to do that. However, Pente already has an official tutorial and tutorials for two player games need two players to create, ...

Re: Pente tournament requests?

DanClough has now added a new 5 round Swiss tournament, starting on October 5th. Looks like we should have a good turnout, based on the number of entrants so far. https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=166257
