The statistics echo my gut feeling

Interestingly, the more I play this game, the more balanced I feel it is

I don't think this is a bug. The descriptions in Santorini are always pretty literal. When it says "you must move up, if possible", that really means you need to consider all legitimate possibilies. And moving up means the action of "making a step from a lower level to a higher level&...

I think it's not a bug since you are in the nightmare mode.

Some players don't understand how easy 4 questions can sometimes be solved using 1-2 questions and claim others as cheaters. LOL.

My 2 cents:

Typically, getting the bonus means you are going to have to pass the moves where your opponents choose planting, unless you are the last player. 7 points is pretty well matched with that passed turn.
