There's a massive thread of complaints about this feature from back when it was first introduced, none of which swayed BGA.

If you click on the board, all the player pieces disappear temporarily, so you can see what's underneath.

This is a common rules confusion, explained in detail in this post on the Heat forum.

In short, slipstream doesn't increase your speed, but it also doesn't protect you from corner checks; if you enter a NEW corner via slipstream, you still have to check that corner.
