Re: Silk Road abandon penalties

Aha. So, Elo was awarded based on the progression when the player was expelled. It's worth noting that playing out a game after someone was expelled often has little benefit. Odd things can happen. Yeah, that's a completely different situation. OP, you can continue playing when someone gets expelle...

Re: Silk Road abandon penalties

Thanks for all the responses — much appreciated, and apologies for conflating actively quitting and passively quitting (I.e., holding the game hostage and forcing the others to choose between mutually abandoning or expelling you if they want to join any other real-time game). On mobile it’s sometime...

Silk Road abandon penalties

In playing with the Silk Road expansions, I observed that a player abandoned on the turn where the game was about to end, but BGA only awarded 1% of ELO to other players, rather than somewhere in the high 90’s: https://boardgamearena.com/5/splendor?table=819907359 Is there a way this can be fixed? I...

Can we reduce penalties for slow game start?

I've had several games in the last few months where one or more players don't get notified in their browser that the game has started. It seems to bring out the best and worst of the other players -- some players kindly direct-message opponents to let them know the game has begun or offer to abandon...

Feature request: concede

What do people think about a concede feature, perhaps similar to the one in use for Spades on BGA, where if you are further than a certain number of points behind, you are given the opportunity to concede before each round — a concede button that appears in the UI. If both partners decide to concede...

Solo flowers in Summer mode

Request: could we please separate the weekly solo scores by whether or not summer is enabled? (Maybe have two leaderboards?)

Re: Workarounds for browser-failed-to-start-game problem

What browser version are you using, and what platform? Is it wired Ethernet or wifi? Usually Chrome on iOS or MacOS or Linux, and usually WiFi. A common thing is for me to use BGA to pass the time by playing on long public transportation journeys, so flaky/intermittent connections are not uncommon.

Re: Additional penalty for conceding?

Perhaps there’s a way to make both sides happy here? What if, rather than ending the game, conceding put a dumb computer player in your seat, one that would just pass or make minimal moves to allow the game to proceed for others (like when a player is expelled, but without the penalty)? That would r...

Workarounds for browser-failed-to-start-game problem

I've incurred a large number of penalties lately from arena games that start without my browser switching to the game, then someone at the table ejects me before I have a chance to realize that the game has started. Is there a way to address this problem? I feel like I'm getting the worst of both wo...

Rule clarification: must the player with the most points win?

There are situations where the player with the most points doesn’t end the game. In that situation, can anyone confirm who should win? Is it the player with the most points, or the player who ended the game? For example, imagine a game where three players are tied with nine points, and player 1 has ...
