I feel the same way... It's so not sincere. You play sometimes an hour with people you didn't even salute and if you win (99%of the time it's only winner) you say gg at the end to show off... I so wish I could definitely turn off chat...

Well I agree that BGA should provide us the posibility to turn off chat cause the module you can download for you browser (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/mute-chat-for-boardgamear/gohhojdlpnegnpbgdbplhkkaaagkhaah?pli=1) is not working properly.
