Re: comerce

Just making the 2nd stage of Alexandria night cost 2 ore would be such a simple fix. Might not be the ideal fix but I think it would make Alex more balanced.

And for Alex day side, maybe 2 ore for first stage and 2 stone or 2 timber for the second stage?

Re: Choosing the wonder

Hmmm, I was pretty hostile to this idea but an auction for picking wonders is actually an interesting idea.

Re: giza better night or day

I agree with almost everything, there's nothing wrong here, just in my personal experience, I never play Giza day, I think it defeats the entire purpose of Giza. I can't find a world where day side is best for reds than night side: you need the same exact resources but you miss 5 wonder points whic...

Re: Choosing the wonder

This isn't the perfect example of my point but shows a heavy red strategy with the Ephesos night's motive to take stone and tendency to have a gold advantage working out in my favor. https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=827729876

Re: Choosing the wonder

I think most highly skilled players — which I'm defining roughly as usually over 400 ELO — tend to agree that it's more balanced now in the new edition but the differences are still substantial. Guessing for that group, roughly the following tiers would be a popular choice: 1st - Hali ( n ight) 2nd...

Re: giza better night or day

I slightly prefer Giza over Olympia and moderately prefer it over Alex. I like that it's easier to pivot strategies to adapt to opponents with Giza than with Olympia. My suggestions are tailored for 3-player, but I'd note that resources per player are most bountiful in a 4-player setup, which tends ...

Re: Choosing the wonder

Here's the post with the statistics I was referencing: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2697126/the-wonders-are-significantly-unbalanced Though I forgot that this data is in reference to the old edition of the game. I think most highly skilled players — which I'm defining roughly as usually over 400...

Re: Choosing the wonder

The wonder are mostly the same. . . The wonders are actually tremendously different in terms of average score and average place achieved by players, depending on wonder drawn. It's not just Hali either. Alexandria is noticeably worse than 5 wonders and Olympia is considerably worse than 5 wonders. ...

Re: Babylon

This is exactly what I was talking about https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=794264545 Thanks if you'll take your time to watch it :geek: This game was very well played. You capitalized each time your opponent made a mistake and the choice with 5 cards in R-III to bury the green guild was brilli...

Re: Players leaving the game

There is so much randomness and lack of balance in both wonder composition (as a solo wonder) and lineups (which wonder is paired next to who) along with the cards you get that any actual competitive play is a joke. Put players of the same skill together and cards will be a decisive factor 8/10 tim...
