How does Demonstration work?

Post by MrShingami »

I might be misunderstanding this, but demonstration only takes vp if there are 2 more unemployed than potential working class jobs available, regardless of what type of maple are required right? I just lost vp for having 5 jobs available while my opponent had 5 meeple, and the only thing I can think of is the available jobs weren’t all for unskilled.

Nevermind, didn't realize I had to also assign at least one worker into a job.

There is a condition that has to be met, and a penalty if the demonstration condition is still in place by the production phase.

Condition: “…if the number of your unemployed Workers is
higher than the number of available Worker slots for your Class (regardless
of skill) by at least 2. If this criteria is met, performing this action allows you
to place the Demonstration token in the unemployed Workers area.”

Penalty:

“… the other players lose, in total, VP equal to the number of unemployed Workers
you have plus your Trade Unions.”

It's also worth mentioning that if the demonstration has been launched against you, to avoid ANY penalty, the other players must accomplish ALL THREE of the following:
A. build a company
B. place a worker in THE NEWLY BUILT company
C. The initial condition for launching the demonstration is no longer met

Not entirely true. (Or ambiguously said) :
Only one player (which is not the working class) needs to do it.

In a game with middle class and capitalists, if all 3 steps are done by one of the two, then the démonstration ends.

Yes, abiguous. By "other players" I did not mean "each player." I inteded to indicate that the three conditions could be met (just once) by the combined efforts of more than one player. At least according to my understanding of the rulebook that works, though the situation.

For example, say the demonstration was called when the worker had 4 more unemployed workers than the number of open slots. Suppose the CC can only build one company with two slots able to employ workers and builds that comapny assigning 2 WC workers. But there are still 2 more unemployed workers than open slots so Condition C is not yet met. If later that round the MC builds another company wit one WC worker slot, the open slots Vs. WC unemployed difference is down to 1. The MC and CC would have acomplished all three conditions via their combined efforts.
