So I was the last one left playing in tournament match of 4 people and yet I was one of two eliminated. It wasn't because of the clock as that didn't happen in another game in the same tournament. So do we now randomly pick who gets eliminated now? Who are the dumbarses at BGA who who write this crap? Get your act together.

This has happened because a player was kicked out of the game during it.

The rest of you then tied for first, so random elimination happened.

I'm the future if you want to avoid the chance of being eliminated randomly, do not kick anybody out of tournament games.

The answer should be bga stopping the ability to kick in tournament games like they don't allow you to surrender in tournament games, but in the meantime should that not be getting implemented anytime soon, you can personally avoid it happening by not triggering the kick button because you got an email telling you someone was running out of time or whatever the reason is you decided to kick them.

when it's a round-robin stage 1 of multi-stage tournament, then the score difference is tie-breaker for the qualification for stage 2. not saying that is the best mechanism, but I can't think of a better solution either. Conceding shouldn't be possible in that case because that might screw up other players chances of qualification.

I fail to see how conceding a 2-player game rather than losing it on the board would change anything regarding to qualification for other players.

Some tournaments have tiebreakers like margin of victory, so there are some games where it would matter.

An example:
First stage of the tournament: 8-player-round-robin. 2 players qualify for next stage. Winner of the group wins all his 7 games. Then there are 2 players who have 5 wins. Opponents points can't help in determining who did better of the 2 players because both played the exact same opponents. So what's being used to determine 2nd place is victory margin from all the games played in stage 1.
Maybe in your game against one of those 2 players you were only 5 points behind close to the end of the game. But you know there's an end-game-scoring involved, that would give your opponnent 50 points and you only 10. This seems like a situation you would concede on. But if you were allowed to concede here, that would mean your opponent would only get +5 points for her victory-margin-score while in fact her lead was actually 45 points (this was hidden, but you knew). You would crush her tie-breaker-score and maybe cost her the qualification to next stage, if you were allowed to concede.

Ok, then for all the games that have no scoring. I'm thinking of Hex, Chess, Checkers, Go, etc.
