As you know, for two years and a half, we have been giving without counting to allow you to discover the best board games online. Our goal when we started this website was to create the best board gaming website online. With 32 games online (and a lot more to come) and 500 to 600 players online every evening, BGA is not very far of getting to be the most popular website of its category, and we feel like we completed our mission.
Since two years and a half, we have had to battle with our families, our friends, our jobs and our social life overall to find the time needed for this adventure. We managed to do it thanks to our passion and our willingness to never stay put and to always go forward through innovation: the collaborative translation system, BGA Studio or the new lobby are the fruits from this state of mind.
Still, BGA seems now to have reached a respectable cruising speed that gives us to think that it is time to hand over the wheel to some other guys with more "managerial" profiles, and to go back to our families and our "normal" life.
Fortunately, two old friends of ours have confirmed their interest to take back this website. The first, André Salander, is a Canadian with whom we have entertained a long time friendly relationship over IRC. Andy is a wonderful programmer, known by the community as "no-show Andy". Indeed, Andy never went out of his place since his sixteenth birthday, feeding only on online ordered pizza and code lines - often simultaneously - and he never hosts anyone at home except his mom. Andy loves BGA dearly because it enabled him to discover and practice board games despite his phobia of humanity.
The second, Charles Sharktooth, is also a long time acquaintance. Charly graduated first of his promotion in the French business school "ESSEC", with a twin diploma of Harvard and a specialisation in "integrated trading of derivated products". Last year, he managed to increase of 20% the profit margin of the business unit of the bank employing him: he literally changes everything he touches into gold. So we were especially moved by his willingness to take back BGA in a "non-commercial spirit", in order to "fill his few remaining spots of free time". Charly is not really what you would call a player, but we are fully confident in his potential, since last month - after his first game of "The Settlers of Catan" - he blurted: "this is a revolution !"
