Drafting cards

Post by schwame »

It's ridiculous that the time allowed for drafting cards is the same as regular play. TWICE in two days I was booted from a game I started because I was about thirty seconds away from finishing a draft, and this was after I messaged the team asking for more time. In normal play it's barely enough time to read through the cards much less make a choice about which to use strategically. Devs need to add an option to increase time for drafting.

Also, wtf other players? Do you want to play or not??? What is the sense in booting someone before the game even started. Super frustrating

It sounds like you were doing the "start with 10, keep 7" (sometimes called 10-3) mode which technically isn't a draft. Just to make sure everyone here's on the same page. All the drafts I've played (where picks are 1 or 2 at a time) have the timer restart after each pick.

If the 10-3 timer is the length of one turn, I would agree that it could be too short a time for some players. I would say you should submit a suggestion/bug report for timers on this mode, and in the future be careful about which games you're joining.

Already asked, already answered : not possible with current framework.
Playing in a given speed mode implies a max time you can have and there is no possibility to go beyond that during the game. So the only possibility would be to add time at each card added/removed to draft selection, which would basically means a player could take an infinite amount of time to draft, which could make other players quite unhappy without being able to do anything since the player would still have a positive clock.
As Lumin said, i would advise to stay away from the 7-10 mode if that's too quick to you, or to play only in slower mode/training mode.

Hello! Thanks for the answers. When I posted this I didn't know that there were options for other draft modes. I saw them, but had no idea what they meant and thus as a new user didn't use them :) Now that I know there are different draft modes this is not an issue, although I still think giving only one turn time for a draft of seven cards is silly, but there are enough options that it doesn't affect me.

Is there a guide that details what the names of each draft option mean? That would help new players understand what to choose when setting up a table.

What do you mean ? The table option is already quite verbose IMO.

I am referring to more of a brief explanation in the rules of what is a card draft, how does it differ from picking 7 of 10, and how does the time limit apply (i.e. you are alloted the full time turn limit for each pick over the number of draft picks). Also, I still don't totally understand why sometimes there is a time limit and sometimes there is not even with drafting. I think it has something to do with training mode? Many of the games I play seem to have no turn timer at all. I think this is happening when the beta option is on, but I'm not totally sure what setting is causing that.
