Re: FAQ: Arena mode

Post by brzytwa »

Sometimes I wait for a game few hours. Sometimes, I forget about it, and a game is created, and people prefer to throw than cancel a game.

For me it's very discouraging to play arena mode, buy membership, if I lost in such way. Next I have to win many games, to back at the same position.

Please consider disable throwing in games without any moves.

The problem is that would create a way for people to "select" the arena opponents, which is against its philosophy. Imagine: Don't like your opponent(s)? Just do nothing and the game will be abandoned with no penalty. That's why there's no "accept game" screen in arena.

I can give red thumb people, who I don't want to play against.

It's a smaller problem than losing after waiting a few hours for an opponent. At least for me.

Maybe you should play Turn Based in the arena instead?

I also want to play in normal mode. But in many games, I have to wait very long for opponent - and it's impossible to look at bga every two minutes. It's just my opinion. If only I see the problem, don't worry.

Today I learned you can win an Arena game and gain ... 0 star.

I also learned that you can prevent that with an option, but seriously why would you have to set that explicitly ?
Who would want to play an arena game in which they can't gain anything ?

If the tier difference to your opponent is too large (>3 tiers I think), you don’t gain „stars“ / tier points anymore, but you still gain „Arena ELO“. It just is hidden as long as you don‘t reach Elite. As you already know, you can restrict the arena tier of your opponents, if you want to make sure that you always can gain tier points.

You also gain regular ELO from Arena games, don't you?

Lol no, you can't. There's settings to restrict arena games but they don't work.

Is that new? Used to work for me in CS.
