Noob question - How to try games

Post by SpelleJelle »

Hello everyone,

I am just new to board game arena and would like to try some games. Is there a possibility to test a game without immediately playing with others? I feel like I'm otherwise bothering people with my inexperience at certain games.

Thanx!

maybe open up a training game.
watch the tutorial + read the rules before maybe.
also try to join a game and ask whether they are ok you being a newbe.

sadly no bots (not afaik) to try and play against on this site...

hope that helped...

Find games with player count 1.
Or play cant stop, but it's a premium game, u can add a bot in that game.

If there is a tutorial available for the game you want to learn, maybe you can try that. That's not an actual game you play because moves are predetermined but it can help you to be more familiar with the rules and BGA interface before to play with others.

I think - long time since I played - 'Can't Stop' has a bot solo mode.

EDIT: oops, user nccc already said this.

You could also use the facility to watch other people play first, but this is maybe not quite as useful as playing yourself (and probably won't make any sense until you've at least watched a tutorial). As a certain character said in Squid Game, its not usually as much fun either. (I'm trying to avoid a SPOILER, by not saying which character, but those who watched to the end ought to know who I mean!)

We also have a group specifically for trying new games.

My advice is to play your first game turn/based at 1 move/day. This actually gives you up to 3 days to make a move, so you have plenty of time to learn the interface, watch rules videos, read strategy guides, etc while immediately applying everything to an actual game.
