The new design has bugs which make BGA partially unusable!

On an Android Phone Google-Chrome the new menu blocks almost the full website. You can not close it or go back. There is also no possibility to scroll if you have many running games. You can only reload the website in the browser or your stuck.

On desktop / firefox I have the issue that you cannot scroll the game list. If you have many running games the "gamesinprogress"-button is just cut off. So there is no way to go to this site.

Please improve this.

I hate that we don't get a pop up at the top of the page anymore when it's my turn for a game

The new icon for games in progress now appears in orange, why not. But the fact that there are pending games or not appears as a number of the same colour, so in a too discreet way, which is an extremely bad idea for my 60 years old eyes. Detail to be changed urgently please.

There is one more bug on fireofx: When it turns from no moves to new moves available, the orange button disappears completely. But you can click on the point where it should be.

At first glance I didn't like it, but that is common with change.
The friend's list is better.
The message management is better.
2 extra steps were added to change the volume. I would like the volume moved to left of the friend's list icon.
When looking at your own avatar, you can see you are online. Is the bubble in the top right of your avatar needed?

When it becomes my turn in a game, there does not appear to be any easy way to jump to it. I see the web page title update to show the spinny icon, but the Tables page no longer shows it's my turn at the top. If I click on the new interface, it doesn't show what tables it's my turn at at the top.

This is a mess.

Also how is it even sorting games in this list? Why are "Searching" games with no players at the top? Games where it's my turn should be at the top, and it should be dynamically updating. I shouldn't have to go to another page and come back to see it's my turn in a game.

GeraldineMerida wrote: 16 December 2021, 17:19 I HATE the new interface: it is modern, but not 'intuitive' or 'meaningful' at all to me.

1. The 'good karma' green blob mkes me think it's an alert that I have games which need action, when I don't. I don't need to see karma at all unless I'm inviting people to games, so it should not be so prominent, but if it MUST be featured here, why not just make the coloured circle around my avatar either red or green to show karma level? (I think it's currently yellow for premium, but this is even more trivial information.)

2, The number of friends online is hard to read: took me a while to realise that was not part of the new icon.

3. God knows what those orange blobs to the left of the friend icon are supposed to represent. Certainly not something I can intuit.

4. I can't immediately click to go to my most urgent game, and when I click on my avatar to see games in play, the interface is far too busy to see information quickly.

5. Putting games that are still looking for players above games that are actually in progress seems really unhelpful.

6. The new colour scheme is too bright and the colours clash. Gives me a headache (literally - I'm a migraine sufferer).

Can we PLEASE have the option to switch back to 'classic' interface?
agreed. Form over function seems to be the new BGA mantra. A lot of the recent "user improvement" updates really just detract from the gaming experience and make it harder to find the things we actually need. Just more flashy colors and distractions... but I'm not surprised. BGA has been following this trend for quite sometime now. It's likely only older players complain about these, and I'm sure the answer will be "if you don't like it, find someplace else!"

I quite like the look, though I'm generally pretty good at dealing with change, so will report back where I think things could be improved.

As an urgent priority, I would say you could definitely do with some tool tips to explain the meanings of the icons though, tool tips are an essential part of WCAG 2.1 to help people with visual impairments navigate graphic icons. I don't think the yellow icon is intuitive at all either.

The friends and tables icons should dynamically move when the player panel is opened, so you don't need to click again to access those functions.

I agree that games in progress should be prioritised over games in sign up in the list too.

I like some things about this update. The friends list is MUCH easier to use and I love being able to add friends directly from there. An option to send group invites directly from the friend list would be even better. I like that I can see my XP easily and I like that I can check tables, notifications, and messages without leaving the page I'm on.

The green 'online' circle on my profile picture is annoying. My eye is constantly drawn to it and it makes me think I have a notification. I don't need to know that I'm online and would prefer to have this green circle removed or at least make it only show up when I have the menu open.

I'm fine with the new tables icon. It's modern. The color is a little light, but I'll adjust. However, I agree with a couple other comments I've seen and have a couple other suggestions as well.
1. A condensed view of tables would be nice so I can see more than 5 without scrolling.
2. The 'View all current tables' button needs to be at the top.
3. The 'View all current tables' is in a color and style that doesn't match the new menu, so an update for it would be nice.
4. This might already be present and I haven't encountered it yet, but it would be nice if the timer/turn icon (grey) turns a muted (not bright) red to indicate when someone is out of time.
5. I would rather see progression as a bar (filled based on how complete the game is) than a numerical %. A bar is much easier information to process at a quick glance.
6. I'd like to see a slightly better indication of what games are part of tournaments. The grey trophy blends in with 'Progression' and almost looks like it's an icon for the word. Make it gold or perhaps move it to before or after the game name instead.

I also don't like bright purple as the highlight color for selected tab in the menu. I'd rather the inactive tab icons be grey (similar to the background behind Sound) and the active one be the dark blue. Teal, like the links, or even green, like the karma/online color, would be sufficient without adding another new color into the interface. The more colors present, the more overwhelming it gets, so simple, neutral colors would look better. (It looks like we're going to a purple link hover everywhere in that menu though so this may not be a possible change.)

A minor complaint - Premium subscriber link underlines in teal when I hover but the text stays gold. Most of the other links change colors rather than underlining when I hover. A more consistent change when hovering (either underline everything or change color on everything) would be nice.

It seems we have to click our profile icon again to close the menu. Would it be possible to get a subtle (grey) X in the top right corner of the menu instead?
