Looking into your game that you left and it appears that it was a Clans of Caledonia game with you playing in Puerto Rico while others were joining from the US, France, and Japan. My best guess is that the difference in time zones plus the fact that BGA is very liberal with the amount of time given even in "fast play" makes your desires difficult to achieve. I understand your dilemma, which is why I only play asynchronous games with friends and I play live games when I want to move quickly and even then the "fast" games go slower than sometimes desired.
It appears that when creating a table, there is a way to restrict playing times between certain time periods in your time zone and you can restrict the language of the players who join your table, but this doesn't really work all that well:

So tbh, the only things that can improve your dilemma is to restrict who you play with (friends or trusted players, table settings for prospective players, joining play groups within your timezone, etc.), petition to BGA to allow an option to only play with people from certain time zones, or adapt and change your expectations so that you play live games when wanting to have a fast pace and accepting the limitations that come with asynchronous play.
One idea for restricting who you play with is in your table creation methods. As table administrator you can obviously set the pace of the game and restrict some of the prospective players, but on the "Table Configuration" area you can modify the "(no presentation yet)" to state something like "Players expected to play 8 moves per day". This can be seen by those who are viewing open games and then as the table administrator you can clarify your expectations with those at your table before commencing.
If I have a desire to play asynchronous with people who aren't my friends, I tend to play multiple games of the same game at once so that it the delays in action are less frequent.
As for BGA reports,
Here's a suggestion to find players by country:
