Host key verification failed

Post by mavit »

Today I tried to SFTP to 1.studio.boardgamearena.com for the first time in a while, but received the following message:

Code: Select all

$ sftp 1.studio.boardgamearena.com
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
@ WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED! @
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY!
Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)!
It is also possible that a host key has just been changed.
The fingerprint for the ED25519 key sent by the remote host is
SHA256:JYXbrqMVlIR6+VoWPNQPC2qKaoKqV54FB+gp7ivmMqQ.
Please contact your system administrator.
Add correct host key in /home/mavit/.ssh/known_hosts to get rid of this message.
Offending ED25519 key in /home/mavit/.ssh/known_hosts:123
Host key for 1.studio.boardgamearena.com has changed and you have requested strict checking.
Host key verification failed.
Has the host key indeed changed? Is the fingerprint of the expected key documented anywhere?

Studio was reinstalled last November following a server issue. If you haven't connected in a while, then indeed the fingerprint will have changed.

Got the similar problem :

my username and password aren't recognized anymore.

Vscode with the pluging sftp said Permission Denied. The command with sftp 1.studio.boardgamearena.com show me a similar message

The authenticity of host '1.studio.boardgamearena.com (37.187.205.147)' can't be established.
ECDSA key fingerprint is SHA256:6ITnzBNll5LFCPWUELSSY+vsK+MSE1EfjKVMzWJEPdU.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no/[fingerprint])?

This afternoon, all was working as usual.

I'm also having issues - I'm able to login via SFTP but the directory for my game (thenetworksbf) is completely empty and it says "permission denied" when I try to upload a file.

I was able to fix it by using "Delete this project" and creating it again with the same name and BGG ID.

Indeed there we had some temporary issues early January 15th that have been resolved during the day.
