When one is a BGA Reviewer and joins in alpha testing a game, or gets invivted to a playtest group, they get added to a group "Great Western Trail Players" for example.
That group at the moment is like 3000 users or so.
These groups also allow people to discuss with the entire group in a chat direct message--this can get obnoxious in large groups. Users can essentially directly message 3000 users, triggering chat messages with all those online. If one is in a game you'll get a sound notification and it will clog the activity messages also.
As far as I can tell there is no way to "unsubscribe" for lack of a better word from these messages. Unless you leave the group, but then you also leave the ability to playtest that game. I'd like to still be able to playtest but not get spammed with messages from users who (in my opinon) abuse the feature to chat with the group. (Especially since you can use the forums or the discussion board so anyone who wants to discuss can go there and find it rather than getting hit by chat messages I never signed up for).
