Premium / Updating payment method / price

Post by Quax »

Hey all,

unfortunatly the contact tool for my problem always guides me to same, similar, but different pre-answer with no possiblity of direct conact.

I have to change my payment method and the faq says: quit your abo and make a new. As fas, as good, but...:

I'm an "old" premium member with the old prices and the announcement was that the old customers will keep the old fees. If I quit my abonement I would guess the new one would have the new, higher fees, right? So, updating payment method would lead in raising the premium costs?

I have the same issue, my credit card number changed so I need to change it here. If I do so though, I believe I will lose my grand-fathered price discount. I've emailed support a couple times but haven't got a response yet. Anyone have ideas on how to get in touch with the right people at BGA?

The announcement was wrong at the time. They announced
Existing Monthly/Yearly Premium players will keep the current prices (= nothing changes for you as long as you keep your Premium Subscription going).
But this was just announced wrong. BGA rewards ongoing subscription that use a credit card as payment method and do not change bank accounts / credit card number.

It also hits paypal-users by the way.

I guess stuff like changing bank account and using paypal is causing some effort from their side and therefore should lead to higher price. But new price is still reasonable so I'll go with it.

Seems a bit odd to penalize someone for a credit card company sending out a new card... Especially for a member since 2011. Not saying the new price is unreasonable, but I just don't think that's a reasonable way to treat customers.

My guess is that it isn't really the intention to be forthcoming in that matter to anyone. 30 bucks is an okay price for what you get. Would be ok to ask that from everyone.

But they can't. People signed up to previous price and if you raise that, it would require people to re-sign and that means some people would opt out. So easiest (cheapest) for them is to just let people keep the price until they have to make adjustments for new account data anyway.

I think this is ok, but it turned a bit into a problem because it was announced incorrectly (as if it was about the long-going membership, which it apparently was not). The announcement raised expectations...

Thanks, I also assumed that all that is just part of the original architecture of the website and though a collateral side effect. Of course, it feels a little weird that players, who had to update there payment infos a month before the new prices happens will probably be discounted for the couple next years while unlucky guys, that have some time after the raise had to pay early the higher price. But, well, seems collateral.

BTW: Anyone an idea how to set notifications to answers?

You should have a wrench icon 🔧 above or below this thread, subscribe. At least, I assume that does what you needed.

Yep, I just followed https://boardgamearena.com/faq?anchor=f ... mentchange to change my payment method. I cancelled the existing subscription and see the new price listed, even though my premium hasn't expired and I am just switching my card number. If that's the way they're going to treat me, they're not getting my money at all.
