First, I do like the arena idea. And I do like playing it. But I find it highly frustrating, the way it counts points.
Here's my reasoning and I'm curious, if people agree or could convince me otherwise:
If you compare it to, let's say Football leagues, then you can generally assume, that a team in league 2 is better than one in league 3 and worse than one in leage 1. In arena, it's just a matter of people taking part in the current season and they can quickly fall down to bronze again or haven't even bothered before playing it. So it happens, that you end up playing someone with 400 ELO, against whom you lose all your hard gained points, only because he is obviously better than you.
And then, it's just the dumbest thing, to not receive anything for a win, just because you play against someone in a league some steps below yours. You should always at least get minimum 1 point, everything else is just nonesense. Especially, since one can't choose whom one plays.
Since I don't only want to complain about what's there, here's what I would change: The league should try to reflect your skill, so whether you win or lose against others of comparable skill. This works quite well in other platfoms, but on BGA, the league level says almost nothing about your skill, except for those leading in elite. So why not have a number of leagues like now, but over a longer time and without always falling down again and then try to matchup more equally? Over time you could work your way up by winning more than losing and those on top should need to defend their position, so not playing should over time step them down.
