I also think it is a bit exaggerated to ban a whole country out of a site, because its leader is... (extremely nicely put) spiritually- and psychiatrically-challenged.ferranmatagalls wrote: ↑25 February 2022, 20:07 I request the expulsion of all Russian players from this website; we must isolate all the citizens of this dictatorial country; NOT TO THE WAR
You can use the Red Thumbs, instead.
I also find it psychologically difficult to play with players from Russia, at the moment, I am sorry. But that's how things are, even if this is just a gaming site.
Especially players who are indifferent and show no remorse or public sympathy about what their country's leader is... doing, at the moment (even if it's not their direct fault). I find it soul-crushing, and the country will meet huge well-deserved loss in the near/distant future, because of this tragedy.
I think we should all show support in this situation, in a way or another (neighbour countries are already helping Ukraine).
I would like to suggest the idea of banning every Pro-Putin username created after 24th. of February, 2022 and renaming every player who has a "Putin"-esque username created until 24th., as a way of showing support.

Re: Russian players
Wouldn't you bet 1 million dollars, that the guy who wrote that, is Swiss?Joseph2302 wrote: ↑25 February 2022, 22:28Exactly. This is a stupid suggestion, why punish everyone ever associated with Russia based on the actions of their government?
Also, be a bit more careful with the words you use, especially now.
I think it's important to always see both sides, but this is not just a simple problem ! Or not as simple as you put it.
For instance, if Russia will be punished enough, it might even become difficult using the site (or being able to buy further Premium accounts), for them.
And also... I think indifference/neutrality is more dangerous here, than what you call "st*p*d hatred".
I don't think I could criticise an Ukrainian person... for boycotting a Russian, right now. Could you?
I am doing that myself, and I am not even Ukrainian.
If that's hate for you... I call it emotional coping; especially since there is a considerable amount of people in Russia at the moment (35%), who don't actually see Putin as THE CULPRIT, but the Western World (& NATO).
Anyway, I am out of this topic. All my support goes entirely to Ukraine.

Re: Russian players
Another person had started a topic in suggestions if it was possible to block being in games with certain nationalities, like Russians.
I'm just going to copy-paste my words here.

I think this goes greatly against what BGA stands for.
The current situation is not caused by the Russian people, but by their politicians. Some Russians did not want this either.
What may be a different option is to be able to create tournaments for certain nationalities. You're Swiss, so you could have a Swiss tounament, or something like it, and exclude all other nationalities.
But solely excluding 1 nationality is a step in the wrong direction.
Re: Russian players
The point is to increase the consequences of a nation declaring war, to make it maybe not do it in the future.Joseph2302 wrote: ↑25 February 2022, 22:28Exactly. This is a stupid suggestion, why punish everyone ever associated with Russia based on the actions of their government?
Banning from a gaming site is minor, but this and others thousands minor others thing can make a good difference on the moral of a nation.
I personnally understand that reasonning, but myself which is too much kind, still would have lots of difficulties to be fully agree with it...
