Looking for a programmer

Post by Matthias X »

Hi all,

I've developed my first game, play-tested it abundantly, reached out to game companies - no one was interested. Bummer! Nonetheless, I think that it is a great game and I want to share it with others and get their feedback.

Thematically it's a dungeon crawler, mechanically it is a deduction and bluffing game, which provides significantly more depth than Skull, Poker or Liar's Dice. Special attention was paid to easy rules and intensive player interaction. I haven't seen the core mechanism of the game anywhere else. (3-5 players, 40 minutes, almost no downtime, development of the rules: 95% finished)

The complete ruleset is comprised in 8 DIN A5 pages with a lot of illustrations. From the surface it's a tile-laying game. Treasure card deck, tunnel cards, one meeple per player, easy scoring mechanism. I think that the player interaction will be the most challenging programming part.

I had a look at the Hearts tutorial... It would take me plenty of time to program it, since my programming skills are basic.

Are there any programmers who would be interested in programming it?
How much would it cost?

Thanks for your feedback,

Matthias

A BGA-programmer was scared off by the expression "that the player interaction is the most challenging part": I still think that it is the most challenging part - but compared to the average game complexity it is still simple.
"Thematically it's a dungeon crawler" means: Variable board (tunnel system) + a dragon. But the fighting part is skipped and replaced with instant death :-) So no need to worry about difficult rules at that point either.

I had a closer look at the Reversi tutorial, but when trying to reprogram it several times, it always freezes at the loading screen...

likely a JS problem:
try using F12 to see if there are any errors.

enter the debugger; statement on the setup() function and single step through the code.

if it's a syntax error then just parse (copy and paste) the file into a checker like this:
