"See Final Game Situation" for every game

Post by SandraaK »

I just finished my first game of Luxor (Turn Based). The game ended on somebody else's turn and now I would like to see how I scored, perhaps why I lost ;) . But there is no option to see the final situation. The only option I have is to watch the entire replay of the game all the way to the end, which is annoying.

I noticed that more games lack this option to see the final game situation. Why is that? It shouldn't be too hard to make this available for all games. And it would greatly improve the experience, because when I play a game at home I don't chuck everything back in the box the minute the game is over. I want to look at the end result. To analyze why I won/lost or to admire what I've accomplished :D .

Because BGA won't store the table DB for every game ever, this is just too heavy. So game is automatically archived X hours after the end of the game. It might a different duration for real time game and turn based game.
You can of course still see the end of the game situation by looking at the replay ("go to end of game")

But that's the point: the replay of the last turn should be available for 24 hours after game has ended for turn based games.

So, let X be 24 in your statement. At least that's what is said by officials anytime someone asks.

The game on question was turn based and ended less than 24 hours ago. So yes, op is absolutely right. There should be a quick option to replay last turn/see end of game situation.

Don't use the word replay for something that is not a replay. On one hand you are directly loading the game in its current status, which implies the game is not archived yet, on the other hand you are just looking at the list of the notifications of an archived game. This is really completely different.
I'm really not sure X = 24h for turn based games, where did you get that information from ?

I think qwertasdfg is mentioning the "replay from this move" feature accessible from clicking on a log message after loading the game, or from a link in the email received at the end of a turn based game. The terminology can indeed be confusing with the full game replay from the table page, but those are replays in both cases.

This information is displayed at the end of the game as long as the game is not archived.
But if someone goes to watch the replay (the full one), it's equivalent to triggering the archival process manually: then only the replay is available.

Ok my bad, i way confused by the fact that OP talked about "see the final situation".
So time before being archived is 24h no matter the settings if the table ? TB/RT/training mode ?

No, much faster for real-time games, I don't remember exactly but more a matter of minutes: people are there at the table so they see what happens directly.

Lol. You're telling me I'm using wrong terminology when I use the exact words Bga uses for stuff? Come on, get real. That's just rude.

Not even from log messages. I'm using the exact words from the button on the game has ended page. Directly next to and directly related to the show last situation button

So you are saying the thread opener had already looked at it once and thus couldn't see it a second time?
Possible, but didn't sound like it to me.

In general: if a table doesn't show that information on game end, is it because the game itself doesn't support it (i.e. are there games that generally don't allow seeing final situation) or is it a temporary (possibly server) issue, then?

BGA has grown into a complex website with many features over the years. Confusions are bound to happen, no one knows everything around here anymore, not even admins, there is just too much. I don't think anyone is deliberately rude, please all be kind to each other in discussions and try to be extra detailed about issues you describe (and screenshots when possible, an image is worth so many words). It's always worth it to add in a little friendliness and extra details to your communication, and it's nicer for everyone reading ;)

Either them, or someone else.

There was a discussion about this where I summed up how this worked. Just need to find it... Here it is: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=23868&p=103610&hil ... ed#p103290
