It's neither. If you want a stance to be taken, you take it. Of course you don't have to stop having fun, but you do have to choose whether to do something meaningful or to have fun. You want BGA to make you feel better about having chosen to play 7 Wonders. Instead, why not take responsibility for your own choices?

I ask the same question, even if you seem to not be able to answer: Why do you imply that one can't help Ukraine while also playing on BGA?
This is a Gaming site primarily, but that doesn't mean other areas cannot be touched.
And this is a forum, after all... I think we all managed to debate quite maturely, without insulting.

What I did for this situation happening to the North of my country:
1. I donated... You know, that is helpful;
2. I shared info both on my BGA account and at the end of the games I played in, on the forum and on some groups, and advised people to donate on one of the official Facebook donating pages;
3. I was vocal on YouTube, Facebook and other platforms, informed people who had no idea about what is going on;
4. I kept alert on all news, kept in touch with Romanian hospitals taking Ukrainian patients (mostly in the North, but not only), and informed myself and others on what we have to do in case Putin goes nuclear;
5. I am more than willing to host, if some will need a place, in Bucharest;
6. I am not just a hypocritical troll, that stays behind laptop feeling safe (I feel unsafe) and acting like a hero, and I think there is no reason why people can't try to help or express opinion, in a diplomatic manner, on this site, while also gaming.

Helping Ukraine and Gaming are not mutually exclusive.

You've misunderstood the argument: playing games on BGA doesn't mean you don't care about Ukraine. But while you're playing here, you are not doing anything to help Ukraine and nothing can change that. Stop trying to make BGA something it isn't. I mean, as the other people pointed out in their arguments, Russia has been banned from a lot of things, not only politics.
And there are some sites who restricted Russian access, as well.

Or are you saying that a person who is determined to help Ukraine should actively do ONLY that, and if (s)he played 1 game here, it'd mean that the person actually doesn't want to help it? :s

Anyway, I don't think I will understand, perhaps because of the language barrier, or the fact that you don't express yourself coherently enough for me. Others might be luckier.
And the aggression you are talking about, I think it is because I use too many words and sarcasm, to express a simple idea; I feel that emphasizing, repetition and details make a difference, but I am aware that it is hard for the reader; so I use colours.

Oh wait, I think I got it...

I think the player is saying that we should not ask BGA to ban Russian players... while playing games on BGA.
He thinks that we feel guilty that we play here, while Ukraine is being attacked, so we ask the admins who rule the site, to take some actions (banning Russian IPs or whatever), in order for us to feel better about ourselves.
That was hard to understand, to be frank.

I don't agree with the logic.
If players from other nationalities simply want Russia out of here, they cannot do that themselves.
And I don't see any reason to make a stance by quitting the site themselves (or other thing), as a way to show protest against BGA's refusal to ban Russia.

Same as sportsmen/sportswomen... they cannot simply ban Russia from Competitions. The organisers did that, because they wanted.
Same as the sites who restricted Russia's access... They wanted (the admins of the site, to restrict Russia).

Things can and do change; sometimes unprovoked, other times, as a result: people didn't have COVID19 in 2004, the current war didn't exist 15 years ago, Maria Sharapova was not banned from Tennis before her infamous drug test, and people thought BGA could change from a RUSSIAN-accepting site, to a RUSSIAN-BANNING site. Easy.

It was just a demand, BGA already said "No, we do not want it", I think we all understood.
But that doesn't mean people cannot ask BGA other stuff related to this subject, if they feel it.

I think the logic you presented is... different.

Hello everyone.

Sorry for the slow reaction on this, this sad event happened at the worst timing for the BGA team and we did not have the chance to coordinate on this yet.

Actions are going to be taken on next week, and will be announced here. Despite our limited means (we are just a gaming website...) we would like to find the best way to help ukrainians that suffer from this war, and at the same time to continue to connect players from russia and belarus with the rest of the world because cutting bridges between communities will not help at all. Some gaming companies announced some interesting solutions in the past days and we will probably take this as an inspiration.

In the meantime, please do not attack other players and multiply the posts on the forum on the same subject.

TLDR: we are aware of the situation / we did not decide on what to do yet / actions will be taken next week.

totally agree. much more interesting is the option of being able to inform the entire community of what is happening in ukraine, especially now that the media are being blocked.

but you are taking a long time to show a clear positioning. something that graphically can be done in 2 minutes.




And after then you can think of other issues such as opening donation collection for the purchase of food and medication for Ukraine or for your part, dedicating a week's income (or what you can afford) to the victims

Am I the only one who thinks we have all managed to be quite civilised, expressing contradictory pieces of opinion, on a sensitive issue?
I don't see any "attack" in anything that was written on this subject. Just contradictory ideas, regarding a tense global situation.

It's a form of discrimination solely based on nationality. Even if they're not living in Russia anymore, this is still attacking those people born as Russians.

I am sure the player meant "ban the IPs", the IPs of those players who are using BGA with a Russian/Belarusian IP.
I am sure the player didn't mean people who were born in Russia and who now live elsewhere.
And given the current situation (which is tense, as I am sure you have noticed yourself), I don't consider it to be an attack.
What I meant was that I am happy we managed to express our contradictory pieces of opinion, without getting to "mo*on" or "n*zi INSULT", "f*sc*st" or "co**unist INSULT" or any other thing, such as those.

For me, the discussions were civilised, constructive enough (we managed to see how others think), and given the current situation, I don't see them as attacks.
