Thanks BGA and sourisdudesert for responding to this and taking action.

Ich habe die österreichische Staatsbürgerschaft und verhalte mich wie mein Land neutral. Leider wird mir hier von einigen Spielern sehr aggressiv nahegelegt was ich denken oder mich verhalten soll. Sollte BGA das weiterhin dulden werde ich meinen Account löschen. Ich spiele auf keiner Webseite die politisch Stellung bezieht. Da ich meine Mitgliedschaft zu Zeiten des verlängert habe, möchte ich dann meinen Beitrag zurück. Es ist Ihre Seite sie können machen was sie wollen, aber ich unterstütze das nicht.

This isn't about "politics", this is about taking a stand against a warmongering, terrorist government unprovokedly invading a sovereign country in order to completely annex it. You want peace, do you think closing your eyes and ignoring the situation is going to help?

Good luck finding a website that conforms to your demands of "neutrality" (though perhaps "censorship" would be a better word for what you're asking).

Should you ban all Russian and Belarussian players?
Or should you only ban those who support the war?
Why limit the ban to Russian and Belarussian only, what about the other player with different nationalities who think alike?
And what if banning them would actually reinforce their feeling of being ostracised by Occident and therefore justifying the war even more?
What about Russian and Belarusian that are against the war and find some sort of escape through gaming with the rest of the world thanks to BGA? Should we ban them too?
What about those who are not aware of the war because propaganda, how would they feel about foreign interference if they are to be banned?
What if the best strategy is to fight against ignorance by informing, informing and informing still?
What if the best strategy is to undermine (economically, morally etc.) the people in power who benefit from the war? Do they even play on BGA? Would they suffer from a ban from BGA?
If these players are banned, how do you engage conversation with them? Is social isolation appropriate? How do you break xenophobic antagonism vicious circle if you remove the dialogue, interactions?

I could go on... The Russian and Belarussian are also victims of the dictatorships they live in, and some may have simply surrendered by lack of hope or fear of repression. Is a massive ban on BGA really adressing the issue? I am doubtful, to say the least...

I don't play with Russians, I throw them off the table, but in tournaments I am forced to because I never know who I will meet. Therefore, he appeals to the BGA to ban all Russian accounts at least for the time of armed aggression.

It would have been a TEMPORARY COUNTRY-IP-SANCTION (I think your definition of witch-hunt might not be 100% accurate) and it would have also been a support towards: UKRAINE and all the other Organisations that also SANCTIONED Russia (I am sure you heard that there are many; in different areas, not just websites).

I find the comparison from above... between this war and COVID, as well as the use of "witch hunt"... offensive, to put it nicely.

Anyway, BGA already said it will react to this, and people came with more ideas than just ban.
I am not sure there is more to this, now.

Really, no need for us to talk, there is no point. We see things differently, obviously (I hope I see them ok, in this situation).
It is the first time (hopefully last) I see someone drawing comparisons between... what Russia is doing now, and the Coronavirus crisis... Wow.
