Yahtzee is a good dice game with more skill element than can’t stop I think - some games you can’t win but a better player will win many close games.

Woah, that is a bold statement. I do not agree with that.

In general, Yahtzee, Can't Stop, Can't Stop Express, Backgammon, Lucky Numbers, are mostly in the same category of randomness for me. To recommend Can't Stop Express or Yahtzee to someone who is annoyed by randomness, does not seem like good advice to me.

I would recommend Welcome to..., still some randomness and easy to learn, but especially if you play with expert rules, the luck factor is not as big as you might think first. As a matter of fact, I would recommend Welcome to... to anyone who likes Yahtzee!

Also OP could try to play games in Solo, a much more chilled experience. There are many games on BGA now to play Solo.

To be clear Yahtzee still has a lot of luck but not the “push your luck” of can’t stop which is really what I hate most.

As for the people in the Yahtzee forum who say “it’s rigged” they don’t understand probability and that’s their problem not mine! They probably shouldn’t play dice games at all.

Oh it's not just Yahtzee. It's also Backgammon, Can't Stop, Martian Dice, KoiKoi. Even Castles of Burgundy and Stone Age get such threads. Maybe it's pointless to respond, but I just can't leave it alone

My favourite (=least favourite) really are all the people who complain that the site is rigged to favour premium players.

They can’t then explain why the Arena trophies and Top ELO players are a mixture of both premium and non premium players

Even in games without dice they think this fixing goes on, and that somehow the Top ELO premium players just “get lucky” because BGA is a scam rather than because they play better, putting themselves in positions more likely to result in a win whatever comes up.

But back to Yahtzee and let’s say you roll 66644 on your first turn after three goes. A nice roll - perhaps lucky. But do you score that as sixes, or three of a kind, or full house? That’s actually quite a big strategic decision that could determine who wins the game later on. Yet weaker players will just see the person as winning because they rolled 6s and not see the strategy that follows.

In every online game I've ever played of ANY TYPE, be it chess, or first person shooters, or games on BGA, there is always a stubborn refusal to believe that top ranked players are simply better. And it is partly because there are some documented instances of cheating (as was uncovered recently in Can't Stop). But just because *some* people cheat doesn't mean *you* were cheated. You probably just aren't anywhere near as good as you think you are.
