Seasons: Demon of Argos

Post by Jagan76 »

The rules says:

"When you put the Demon of Argos into play, each opponent moves their sorcerer token back one space on their summoning gauge and draws a power card.
Resolve this action in playing order.
The power card drawn cannot be discarded.
After resolving the effect of the Demon of Argos, the players who have too many power cards in play compared to their summoning gauges do not have to sacrifice cards.

I do not have to sacrifice,
or
I must not sacrifice?

I ask, because, usually in my real games, when a summoning gauge drop under the number of played cards, the player can choose:

sacrifice 1 played card (to balance summoning gauge and number of played cards)
or
keep all played cards in game

I play it wrong?

You don't sacrifice any card.
you just have to gain some gauge to be able to play new cards.

It works the same as the damned soul if you give it to someone who has no free gauge.

I think this is a mistranslation of the french rules. It literrally says "doesn't have to". But the meaning of this sentence is more "It's not because you lost 1 slot on your summon gauge that you have to sacrifice a card".
A better translation would be, I guess :
After resolving the effect of the Demon of Argos, the players who have too many power cards in play compared to their summoning gauges don't sacrifice cards.
In the end : you MUST NOT sacrifice a card ;).
