Impossible to Report: What options does someone have?

Post by Your Spirit »

Hi again... So if a person is unable to speak, report or many other things (due to eternal moderation), what is the best attitude that person can have, when (s)he gets insulted for... nothing?
3rd. time today, also; I cannot speak, report, write to the BGA team or defend myself, in any way.
I think it would be nice to at least give me the ability to be able to report someone, if I am restricted forever... So I won't be the punching bag for whoever sees I am restricted and unable to defend.
Help? Thank you.

Go to their profile: report this player.
Choose it happened at table # xxxx or a private chat. the chatlog appears and you select the offending messages.
The moderator will swiftly follow up.

You won't get a message about it, but you can go to that players profile afterwards to look at the report and see that he has been found guilty or not.

I am not a moderator at all, but this is my personal opinion.
Now *** obviously means *** which is not really swearing in my personal opinion. I do dislike the self censorship that people do by using '*'. That's like saying that "I know I'm saying something bad, but am doing it anyway, and while everyone perfectly knows what I'm writing, I do this to avoid word censorships on purpose."

Ofcourse people have issues with the '****'-word, to me it matters what the context is. Saying '****' is an expression, and something you can say it before you realise it. However if they write '****' I find it far more offensive since they did it fully knowingly what they were writing.

Now for the other sentence I don't know what they mean with '** *****', could anyone enlighten me as I don't understand what the '*' is meant to replace?
Don't feel bad about writing the full word, if the context is clear, no one would look funny at you, just like I feel okay about using the word '****', just as long as you don't direct it to a person or a personal matter.

*Moderation edit: please remember that BGA is a family-friendly platform, even the Forums. Language that is not appropriate in chat is also not appropriate here.

the problem is that if communication is blocked, the reporting function is usually blocked as well. A sick system, now other players can challenge him with impunity and he can do nothing.

Yes. So I (Ze Monstah) have restricted access (forever), which means I cannot report someone, I cannot use chat, etc.
I also posted a Forum text about this unpleasant situation, a few days ago, but it... vanished.

I am being thrown "f" bombs and other stuff in games in which I cannot talk or report (I can only play).

In the example that was edited above, I was thrown an "f towards you" in Spanish, after a game of Puerto Rico.
It was pretty... clear that it was addressed to me, Voriki.
The first thing that was written (3 letters, expressing shock), wasn't my issue (even though there are players moderated for that 3 letters thing, as well); i just copy pasted the 2 lines in the game-chat, the last being the spanish "f bomb", which obviously deserves a moderation.

Can you please kindly explain... WHAT APPROPRIATE CHANNELS? I am unable to use report! What are you doing?

I want to know what to do (if anything possible at all) to solve such things, in order to avoid such future... humiliations.

Does this look fair or necessary to you? Thanks.

The *you've been moderated flag* basically means that BGA cannot trust you. So why should they trust any moderation reports you make? Are you just wasting more of their time...? Probably.

You'd do better to take the punishment with some humility rather than drumming up more drama.

Cannot trust me?
...

There is a chat, in a game... I was insulted (f bomb in Spanish) without saying anything; I cannot report or defend.

What are you talking about?
What are you talking about?

Really hard to believe this... I did not create any drama, and this is public humiliation.
Thanks for the advice.

Yes - cannot trust you.

And yes, you're creating a drama.

He got a ban for writing the truth about the war in Ukraine.
He just used the word r ***, it's hard to spell what's really going on there when you can't use words that aren't considered vulgar, but the BGA team makes the rules out of their heads. Where is the list of non-vulgar words banned on this site?
There is not. So, on what basis does someone get banned for the word r ***.

And yes, you're creating a drama.
I find your opinion very disrespectful for a human being.
Trust needs proof, proof is in the chat moderators have access to. So there is no trust issue.
Reports can be made by anyone except me?

So I can be insulted and provoked in any way, with any word possible, and you are saying that it is my fault that I am not humble and swallow the insults, and that I shouldn't ask the BGA team to punish the ones I cannot report, for words that were used in game chats and that could be verified anytime?

I understand your opinion and I feel insulted; I do not consider this drama, but a request for respect (if you consider this drama, I was brought into it, I didn't create it).

If they moderated me, I wish they also turn down my game-chats, so I cannot see when I'm being written racist stuff, or F bombs, soon probably death threats, etc.
And of course... unreportable...

I cannot even edit my profile text, to change my weekly music link.

What you've got banned for or how you got banned, or what has or hasn't been said to you - I'm not debating. Simply that you've been banned by BGA, and respecting that decision:
The *you've been moderated flag* basically means that BGA cannot trust you.
