One should never be placed in a game that violates a "never" filter. However, there is nothing wrong with providing information. I used to play on the "Dominion" server and it would tell you which of your filters the available games violated. You could do with that information what you wanted.

Een wrote: 19 April 2022, 17:49 Please note though, that "I never want to play with" (red) preferences are always enforced; so if you really don't want a specific option, you have the possibility to set it to "never", and then you should never join a table with this option (otherwise it's a bug). But that may of course mean a longer wait time or no possible match if too restrictive.
Bug reported. In other forum posts I've always argued that this is working while others insist it isn't. Well, now I've witnessed it myself.

Basically I restricted to my level only (bronze) and never anything higher, but got placed on a table with an elite player. Een, this is what you say shouldn't happen and is a bug. If you need more info please let me know.

Thanks for the report. Not exactly the case discussed originally as it was about reputation and your report is about level (and level mapping to leagues instead of simple mode player level is an additional complexity), but as someone justly said never is never and (provided that the restriction was set before starting the search and not modified in simple mode in the meantime, which are not actions logged and sometimes could be the issue since the settings are shared between modes and since modifications impacting the queue are definitely time sensitive) then it's a bug.

Thanks for looking into this Een. Yes, what I reported wasn't what the initial post in this thread was discussing. I was more interested that you (and others) said never means never but if just witnessed this not being the case and this thread seemed timely! My settings were definitely in place before I joined the queue.

Note that I've seen this a lot frequently in Santorini. It is only two player, so the scenario discussed in the bug report is slightly different. I'll append to the bug report.

The issue for this case has been identified (mismatch between Elo levels and leagues) and fixed for the next release.

This case was specific to the "level" setting for arena. It doesn't change anything about the original post mentioning an issue with the "reputation" setting. A report with a specific table number would still be needed to investigate and confirm (or not) an issue on this (in arena or automatic mode: there is no difference for the "reputation" setting).

Thanks Een! I've never had a problem with the reputation aspect of the restrictions but I'll keep an eye out for it and bug report the details of I see it happen. I've only had a problem with my ability to beat the experts in some games so at least I'll now have a better chance of avoiding them while I'm still learning a game :D

The fix for level restriction has been deployed with yesterday's release. It worked with my local tests, but testing the matchmaking is difficult by nature. Please report any further issue (always with a table number please!)

Not working for me. Once again, with settings red except for players of my level (Elite) in Papayoo, I got matched with a Silver (https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=264973543).

I really hate losing Elite points for coming in 2nd, and that's squarely because of that Silver matching.

It also happened yesterday, where I got matched with 2 non-Elites (https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=264793717). I noted this in a separate Discussions thread (https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... =3&t=25478).

my Hand & Foot settings are set to only play +/-1 level. however my games have ranged from bronze to elite players. i have not seen this happen in previous arena seasons, what is causing this now? when this be fixed? when playing games with large ranges, a loss it far much worse than any win.
thank you for looking at this

I also had the same experience today in Hand and Foot - my settings are gold and above but was placed with a silver.
