Inspecting Discard Pile

As per the title, would it be possible to have a button to display the cards currently in the discard pile?

As to not appear overcrowded, it could show the cards simply by name, or better by picture, and the quantity if each, instead of showing multiple copies.

The rules clearly states that discard cannot be looked at, except last played card.

The thing is, an implementation has to adapt to its environment.

I'd wager to say that most games are played on "turn based" mode, at least myself and my gaming group do so exclusively.

Having hours pass between one turn and the other, memory quickly fade.

The rules as are, are written years back, with a physical board game in mind.

Besides that, the log being there... a player could make use of a spreadsheet to tick off played cards.

All in all...I see this as a question to be reached out to the designer, what the "spirit of the rule" would be in this case.

It is one thing wanting to create a quick game of ww2 theme, where unnecesary card inspecting would be a bummer to the mood.
And a different one having a browser implementation, with the features of technology.

Your request is not permitted by the rules of Memory 44, and in any case does not correspond to the need for information of the players who would play it in turn based mode. BGA has implemented many card games, such as belote, and players do not have the possibility to look at the previous tricks, regardless of the game mode.

More, the discard pile does not contain the last card played from your opponent’s hand after the draw deck has been reshuffled, just as the played command card was "Their Finest Hour".
And even when there is a discard pile, the first card in it doesn’t tell you about your opponent’s previous turn if that card is "Counter-Attack".

So, when you are not playing in real time, the only sure way to know what your opponent played during his previous turn is to check the log. This information is necessary if you plan to play a Counter-Attack card that you have in hand. The real question is therefore whether the log’s messages are sufficient to decide which card you will play.
