Viewing the final game state after finish

Post by BreathofCepheus »

Hello, I seem to recall that there was a way to view the end state of a game after it was finished. Maybe I'm remembering that incorrectly but I'm no longer able to see the final scoring breakdown after a game ends. Is this something I'm missing? In this case I'm referring to Great Western Trail but there are other games as well where a final score breakdown/final board state look would be beneficial, even if it's only available for a short time after the game.

Go to your profile, scroll/jump to "n games played" and click on the game you want to view.

As discussed here every now and then: That disappears after a certain time and after 1 single view by anyone

I think not after a single view but after clicking the watch replay button.
Check out the Allround-League: https://boardgamearena.com/group?id=7870115 --> a league where you have matches of random games vs. other players in your group. Season 9 registration oct. '25.

Yup, the final state gets "archived" after any player hits replay, or after a couple of days it occurs automatically.

How is that not a fix button one can click to see it all the time? I'd love to have the option to see the final boardstate. This allows me to get a rough estimate how a person might have achieved a high score without going through the struggle of reviewing the whole game.

You can use the game replay, click on the Advanced Replay features and use "Go to end of game (fast)". It does take a minute to get there and sometimes can go wonky, especially with longer games, but generally it works when the final situation button has disappeared.

I'm really surprised by the way turn-based games end. There's no indication whatsoever for the player when a game ends. To find out, you have to click on your profile to randomly discover which games have ended, which is really strange.
Why not consider the end-of-game board as a last move, which the player has to see once before the game disappears?

Then people could choose not to look at a game when they have lost stopping the game from ending

Let's say the game could be over, as it is now, but the game would remain for one more "turn" in the player's table list until the tab with the final situation had been presented to him. That's what I meant, not that the game actually remains considered "in progress" for all players.
