BGA report handling

Post by Archie L »

Hello,

I am very worried about BGA is handling BGA reports(AGAIN)I've been reported again for something that is not in BGA Guidelines:

I was playing a game of Bang and I was an outlaw. In chat i like to trash talk. When the game was amost over (sheriff had 1 life left).
My character(OUTLAW) said: "DiE, Sheriff, die" This is roleplaying my character and trash talking inside the game. Due to this i lost 30 Karma points

-BGA should understand the difference between what it is said in-game (by a character) and what it is said like a player., especially in role-playing games like BANG.
- Reports should be taken more seriously: Restrict the causes of red thumbs. Players are Red thumbing for anything, It gives BGA staff more work and it creating a hostile enviroment to BGA community.

Therefore, I think this report is out of proportion because as I explained,it was a In-game play( my character).

I would also like to point out the lack of response to the appeals by BGA moderators.

Uhhh, you did write something that sure looks like it violates the Code of Conduct:

On Board Game Arena, you should not:
...
Engage in provocation / triumphalism / defeatism... anything which is not fair play.

That language you used (unless amongst friends who all know you and understand what you are doing) is easily taken out of context. Could the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct be updated to better reflect the current state of automatic moderation? Yes. Should there be an option to waive the filter and allow roleplaying and trash talk among people who *mutually* agree to it? Sure. But for right now that really isn't an option it seems

You have already been warned about misusing the Forums to contest moderations. This is not the proper channel. To contest a moderation you should write to us at https://boardgamearena.com/support.

Since you insist on discussing this moderation publicly, however, I will oblige. It appears you have misrepresented your comments in the chat in your post. I will post them here for transparency. The other players lines have been removed, since they did not request a public review.

You received the -30 Karma penalty for the following lines of chat:

2022/05/16 17:15:56 Archie L: why attacking sheriff?

...
2022/05/16 17:18:00 Archie L: im justt sayimg
2022/05/16 17:19:34 Archie L: pfffffffff
2022/05/16 17:19:38 Archie L: what are u doing?
2022/05/16 17:20:06 Archie L: come on, seriously????
2022/05/16 17:20:15 Archie L: there is anybody else to shoot?????
...
2022/05/16 17:22:58 Archie L: Die you little midget
2022/05/16 17:24:12 Archie L: Die....DIE
2022/05/16 17:40:24 Archie L: DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
2022/05/16 17:40:28 Archie L: buahahaha

None of the characters or players in this game are called "midget" and this term is derogatory and offensive. Saying "Die sheriff, die" as an outlaw is not the same as what you have said here. Please remember to communicate with kindness on BGA. Even in a game with a high amount of roleplaying, it is important not to insult others.
