Time limits in tournaments question

I'm in a turn-based tournament game. One of the players is having internet issues and is playing slowly.

The tournament says we have 15 days to complete the game, and we are now on day 12. (The individual is 2 days over his time already).

If we let the game time out, what are the final results? I don't want to flag him for time, but I also don't want to take a lower result if we are not finished.

The tournament will auto-end the game after 15 total days. Everyone will be ranked by "time left on clock". Most left on clock gets 1st, 2nd most time left gets 2nd, etc.

If you kick the player for running out of time, I'm not sure how the tournament ranks people. I think it's random?

If you kick the person, they come in last and everyone else gets a tie for first.

I was referring to elimination tournaments (it randomly decides who to eliminate). In a Swiss tournament, everyone is tied and the person who timed out is last. That actually can suck, because you lose ground to the leader who gets full points. (I.e., if there are 4 player games where points are given out 6/4/2/0, a 3-way tie for first is only 4 points, whereas someone who wins their game outright gets 6 points.)

If the tournament ends the game, then it ranks people by time left on clock (6/4/2/0). Since you have the 2nd most time on your clock (I assume it was the Agricola game), you get 2nd place and 4 points either way.

In the past, the tie-break was age of BGA account. i.e. In an elimination tournament, the kicked player is eliminated plus other players whose accounts are newest.

However, I just had that not happen, so maybe they've changed it?

I just have the same problem. I was winning in a kingdomino tournament game. It was the last trun. One of the player didn't play on time his last tile. As a result I am eliminated ! That's not fair when it's the last turn especialy and we can easily count the points... Why not chosing the winner with the points at the last turn ???

ah, im having dreadful luck in tournaments lately. i keep getting non players. its not so bad when the playing time is shorter. but im locked in a tournament right now with 3 other players that all look like non players no ones played a move yet and our playing times are 3 days, im still waiting for the first non player to time out. but its such a long wait.

Exact same problem I faced. 97% of the game completed with a few moves remaining, 3 days left on the clock overall. Player in 3rd place kicked someone the moment that player ran into the red, allowing himself to get joint first undeservedly. I lost a ton of elo and tournament points because of that d-bag move because I fell from first to tied first. This loophole is obviously a huge problem for later round seeding/qualifications or even end-of-tournament placing, and losing 6 elo points even though I had won the game fair and square always leaves a nasty taste.

Unfortunately, tournament mode is a niche aspect of the site that doesn't earn BGA revenue, so it looks like they are going to leave us to suffer this horrendous design failure for god knows how long.
