Today the moderators reset my ratings in all games. The reason – as if I deliberately boost my rating using multiple accounts. This is an absolute lie and anyone can verify this (the only account with which I played from the same location is my wife's account, but there was no any rating cheat). I send many appeals to the decisions of the moderators (support@boardgamearena.com, contact+appeal@boardgamearena.com), but no one answers me and does not explain their decision. How can I get the reasoning of this unfair decision and restore my ratings?
There is no possibility to appeal against the unfair decision of the moderators

Re: Tyranny of moderators
With such a title in this thread, they will not take your case seriously.
Now, if you play a game with someone you play very frequently, sharing the same IP address, within your same household, why did you not play training games?
Ranked games are very tricky if it's always against the same opponent(s). You can't prove one or the other in this situation, so the moderators took a decision according to their guidelines.

They just need to answer on my e-mail. Isn't it a standard appeal procedure? Why don't they answer on my e-mail's?
Because it is more fun to play rating games. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. I did not see in the rules any ban on playing for a rating with a person with your IP.voriki wrote: ↑13 June 2022, 15:46 Now, if you play a game with someone you play very frequently, sharing the same IP address, within your same household, why did you not play training games?

Ok, let assume that it was a violation. Why not explain it? Why not reset the rating of only 1-2 games that I played with my wife?

Re: Tyranny of moderators
How is it more fun to play rated games? Don't we just game to game? I know I do. I have a decent ELO in some games, but I join both ranked and training games, wherever I find opponents. I don't play arena or tournaments, even if they'd give me higher ELO.Pechnik wrote: ↑13 June 2022, 16:01 Because it is more fun to play rating games. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. Now this explains what happens if someone is caught with multiple accounts, ofcourse this is tricky as you claim not to multi-account. It's difficult to verify that.
My wife liked that her rating goes up when she beats me.
Of course, this was not a big deal for us, and we easily could play in training mode. But, once again, we did not violate the rules of bga and did not engage in rating cheating, which will be quite obvious to those who look at our games and the set of games that we played. That's why I didn't see any problem.
It's clearly not the my case. We played fair, full-fledged games, and the results of the games varied.https://boardgamearena.com/doc/multipleaccounts

Re: Tyranny of moderators
There's so much to say on this:
1) why on earth would you choose such a name for your topic? not helpful and you'll probably get moderated on it.
2) repeating from what i wrote in the other topic - they should get a response to their appeal
3) i don't know if they cheated, but i think the punishment is totally beneath the point: ELO is for measuring skill. when you reset a capable player to 0 ELO, you're most of all punishing the opponents they'll play with on their path up again. having to play a low-elo-player who plays very well is painful.
4) if a player cheated then keeping the XP and achievements makes no sense
3+4 should be exactly the other way around: when a player cheated by multiaccounting, they should lose the xp+trophies they gained from it but elo should be only reset to a reasonable number (something like 100-200 maybe).

By the decision of the moderators, I lost my ratings in games such as 7 Wonders Duel, Beyond the Sun, Deus, etc. In all those games I was the 1st-2nd highest ranked BGA player and I didn't play them with my wife (or only played 1-2 games). However, my rating on them is also reset to zero. Now, when someone will play with me in 7wd, he will face a player with a zero rating, although in terms of strength it will be a player of 700+.

Re: There is no possibility to appeal against the unfair decision of the moderators
Now they restored my rating in all games except Castles of Burgundy, Island of Cats, Chess, Hearts, 6 nimmt!, Saboteur (I have never played the last four games with my wife, but since I stopped playing them, there is no big problem).
Ok, now I'm 0 in Isle of Cats (despite the fact that I'm 8th in the Arena, the moderators decided that a very average rating of 300 was cheated by me), and 0 in Castles of Burgundy (despite the fact that I was 3rd in the tournament https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=129766, the moderators decided that a very average rating of 300 was cheated by me).
Ok, as Silene wrote, in both cases it's not punishment for me, but for my future opponents.
