Definitely going to keep an eye on this thread. I invited a few real life people I know to play on BGA and sometimes we play at the same house. Which means we play on the same IP address sometimes. I might end up in the same situation someday. My condolences, Pechnik.

Seems the moderators are operating on an assumption of guilt until proven innocent in cases like these, rather than the other way round (as I think it should be).

A high finishing position in a decent-sized tournament should be a good justification for a ''strong'' ELO.

My arguments are even simpler than my position in a big tournament. I carefully read the BGA rules. There is a rule not to use multiple accounts to boost ratings. But there is a big difference between "boost rating" and "playing on the rating". So, according to the rules, they need to prove that there was a cheating, and not just ordinary games between relatives (and I can easily prove that there was no cheating). They send me as an argument:

Normal Mode should only be used when playing against the wider community, not just friends and family.

But it can't be found on the BGA site! Write it clearly if it is the rule!

If they wanted to stop me from playing ranked games with my wife, it was enough to write to me about it once (or they could simply disable the ability to play in Normal mode for players with the same IP address if they think this is a violation). No problem, today I started playing with my wife in Training mode. The most frustrating thing about this whole situation is the manner in which decisions are made:
- no reasoning given for the decision
- no response to appeal, no dialog
- the punishment is completely incommensurable with the possible misconduct
- punishment is not based on BGA rules

In all cases, I want to clarify that this topic is closed for me. I don't care about the rating, achievements etc. And from the experience of communicating with the moderators, I do not expect any justice. I just want to play games, and that the moderators do not interfere with this. Now they just punished my future opponents, not me. I will recover my ratings in these two games without games against my wife (who is very underrated) even faster and without any problems.
I think that if they just excluded the games against my wife from the calculation of rating, then my rating in the Island of Cats would drop by a maximum of 10-20 points, and my rating in Castles of Burgundy would even increase. But it turns out I was a cheater, playing with her for a rating, ok...

Thanks for posting what the moderators said. I also carefully examined the rules and it seemed like it was OK to play with ratings as long as there's no cheating involved, which includes talking about the game offline to form a strategy. The ones I invited like to play against me for ratings, they are a little competitive. But with this rules clarification that Normal Mode is "for the wider community, not just friends and family", I think it's for the best if I only play against them in Training Mode now. Maybe keep track of wins / losses with them separately on a spreadsheet.

Lol. Played first two games in The Isle of Cats after the rating reset made by moderators. Win both of them with 100 points advantage. My opponents gave me red thumbs and now my Karma is limited by 60%... No comments...
