removing players from tables prior to start

Post by CharlieReddog »

Why is it that when I try to create a game, I get zero chance to remove players I don't want to play against, before I get the confirmation page, where if I hit decline the table is deleted and I have to start again. It's just a waste of time and a faff. Is it a setting somewhere or just the way the site works??

It depends. If there are players which you don't want to play with at all, you can give them a personal red thumb (to find on their profile).

Otherwise, make sure you start your table with "Play now" + "Manual". During table configuration you can restrict access in general terms (like karma, experience, your personal friends...) on the very right side of the screen. If you like to invite someone personally, do this before opening the table.

Then if you open the table for other players you could remove them when they enter (although this could be taken as rude). Only when the last possible seat is taken, the confirmation page starts immediately.

This is how it works for me, which may be different with other configurations.

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it. :-)

I'm not sure I made myself clear. I click play now, with manual set, create a game (lets say catan), set the restriction options to whatever I want, and open to other players. I don't want to play with anyone, lets say from a certain country with a habit of invading neighbouring countries uninvited, but before I can remove them from the game the site sends me to the confirm screen. If I decline there, I'm back to square one, not to the game table which just poofs out of existence.

Americans? Well, can't be, they don't invade countries who are their neighbours, but they do do it uninvited too.

The best option is to let the confirmation screen time out, then the table remains open and you'll be able to remove these players afterwards. After that, it also shouldn't auto-confirm anymore.

Another excellent post from Russian sympathiser and part-time troll voriki.
