Idiotic word filter

Why is a word filter used here? I know people who stopped playing here because of that idiotic word filter and switched to another gaming site! And I can imagine that several people think so! It annoys me immensely to constantly have to think about how to rephrase something that is actually harmless!! E.g. Would you like to play ...? (In German the word Lust!) The warning is coming! What is this nonsense??? I'm a premium member here - but if this kind of nonsense stays here - not for much longer! Anyone who thinks that he/she needs to be protected - should play on a children's game site - if such a thing even exists! Some of my friends list also agree with me!! So: WHEN will this idiotic word filter be removed???

For the rest, it's all about the private chat! And by no means about the public in forums etc.

And I'm really annoyed that I even extended my premium membership this year - instead of deleting my account here!

It is interesting how boldly you made a demonstrably false statement. My guess is that knowing that there are children playing here won't make a difference to you. So why rely on that as a justification for your rant?

I am a premium member. I don't care if anyone swears and don't need protection. But I also have had zero problems expressing myself without the filter blocking my ability to get my point across.

At no point did Meeplelowda indicate that they were a child. If you were to follow the link, you would have seen the BGA announcement on underage accounts and parental controls. That is what they were indicating as to how to demonstrate that your all-inclusive claim was false.

As for the protection: Granted I'm not sure how the rest of the world works, but in the United States certain words are banned from broadcast media. BGA is a private entity and can specify what communication they allow on their site. It is their decision to weigh the possible loss of premium members against the gains of the type of community communication they wish to have.

You would be surprised how many users find value exactly in the mostly non-aggressive communication on the site. When I compare chats on BGA with chats on other popular videogaming sites, it is on average much more friendly and relaxed. E.g. I can't even play one hour of supposedly harmless Rocket League without someone swearing in aggressive manner.

Also, as a matter of fact, if you like banter and trash talk, you should only do this with people you know and then you can easily use alternative communication channels other than the BGA chat.

It's not about scolding or swearing, but about normal conversations! But I can see that I'm pretty much alone here with my opinion, because the others are simply too cowardly to support me! In personal chat, they all hit the same note - But to support me here?? - No sign of them! But that's nothing new in the history!! And you here, who think they can judge me, or just don't want to understand me - I'll treat you to a similar experience!!

Maybe you can give some more examples of what you are talking about as many do not share the same experience. I hit the word filter extremely rarely in normal conversation.
(Maybe you can also try to read more carefully what others write. I was talking about trash talk and not normal conversation.)
